Awesome news if you are a fan of High Definition content. A popular specialized HD torrent tracker in the BitTorrent community, Awesome-HD (AHD), has opened its doors for a limited amount of time. That’s not the only good news – AHD has introduced a number of new features and enhancements to the tracker & web interface on top of the open signup. We have conducted several invitation giveaways for AHD in the past but our supply of invitation codes (over 200 of them) never seemed to meet the huge demand there was for this tracker. If you didn’t know already, Awesome-HD (AHD) is a gazelle based BitTorrent site that specializes in high definition movie and TV show releases. Founded by veteran HD encoder EuREKA, AHD quickly became one of the better places on the net to find and download scene and non-scene HD encodes. If you are looking for well seeded, high quality HD rips (including some internal encodes), this is a tracker you should definitely check out.
So what exactly can you find on Awesome-HD? It’s mainly movies, music and TV shows – all in High Definition formats (lossless when in comes to music). As mentioned earlier there are both scene and non-scene releases indexed on AHD. In fact, majority of the uploaded torrents are encodes by p2p groups such as EuReKA, ESiR, CtrlHD, BTT, DON, iLL, etc. Releases uploaded to AHD usually meet the following standards:
- Movies - 720p/1080p x264 encodes + DTS/AC-3 + English subtitles in a Matroska container
- TV – Only Blu-Ray / HD DVD sources. Only complete seasons.
- HD-Audio - DTS-HD, TrueHD, LPCM, FLAC
The recent site update has resulted in some changes to the allowed movie/TV encode types list as well. There are now four different types of encodes available on AHD:
- AHD GOLD encodes
- AHD GOLD + DXVA compliant encodes
- Standard + DXVA compliant encodes
- Standard encodes

Awesome-HD runs on Gazelle codebase (started out on XBTIT, later migrated to Gazelle) and the site inherits the organization, navigation and speed enhancements provided by this excellent tracker script pioneered by the crew at What.cd.
If the existing set of features was not enough for you, AHD staff have come up with a whole new set of enhancements in a new reload of the site just two days ago. A summary of new features is presented below (quoted from a mass PM sent to existing AHD members):
1. Improved IMDB script.
This gives a lot more information than our previous script. Check out a movie to see for yourself.
2. Collages.
Collages are a feature that came from What.cd They allow you to group a collection of torrents graphically and share them with all the users. HD Veterans will have the ability to create collages.
3. Forum Upgrades
The forums have been upgraded to work a bit better and add some new features. One of these can be seen at the top of the screen in the form of the Subscribed Threads link. Others include the new spoiler tag. Anybody revealing plot details and not using a spoiler tag will receive a warning
4. Reseed Request
A lot of you have been asking for this one. It works by showing a request a reseed button in the uncollapsed details when there are no seeds on a torrent. The uploader and everyone who has snatched it gets a PM.
5. Comments on your uploads
In your profile click view beside torrent comments to see your comments on other peoples torrents and especially for the uploaders there is a 2nd link in there to show comments on your uploads. On the index page you can also find a link to torrent comments on your uploads.
6. MediaInfo Checker
We have built our own mediainfo checker to check your encodes with. It is built into the upload form or available as a standalone page.
7. Numerous Bug Fixes
As above.
As the title of this post indicates, AHD registrations are currently open. Signups will probably stay open till the current user limit (7000) is reached. At the time this article is being written, there are over 2300 free spots left.
