MP3Scene – MP3 Torrent Tracker Running On SoftMP3 Source

When it comes to scene music torrent trackers, SoftMP3 was nothing short of a legend. Back in its day, the site was hugely popular in the BitTorrent community and had pretty high demand from music fans across the world. However, SoftMP3 voluntarily shut down citing safety reasons after the Pirate bay court verdict back in 2009. Source code of the site was released to the public and naturally, a flurry of replacements and clones followed the demise of this once great tracker. Unfortunately none of the new alternatives were as successful as SoftMP3 and most had shut down for good by 2011. Today’s article is about MP3Scene – the newest MP3 music torrent tracker to be running on SoftMP3 source. Despite the bad luck surrounding torrent sites based on this script, MP3Scene is off to a fine start and is adding new torrents at a rapid pace.

MP3Scene

Within just a week into its public launch, MP3Scene’s statistics are looking pretty good. The site has so far managed to recruit over 1600 members through open registrations and this number is expected to increase as this tracker gains more exposure. Number of active torrents which was just around 100 a couple of days ago has increased rapidly to 2000, with over 1000 torrents being added in the last two days alone – if MP3Scene uploaders can keep this pace up in the long run, this tracker is definitely going to be a win. With the planned launch of autouploader bot (which according to the SysOP should arrive sometime this weekend), frequency and speed at which new torrents are added might even see further improvements. While the start has definitely been good for MP3Scene, let’s hope this tracker won’t suffer the same fate as previous SoftMP3 source based sites such as SceneSound or CareStreet.

As its name suggests, MP3Scene is a music torrent tracker specializing in scene released MP3 music albums. Indexed music is organized into 40+ different genres including Rock, Pop, Indie, Punk, Jazz and more. In addition to MP3 files which form the majority of  torrent index, this site tracks some MDVDR and Lossless music files as well. Just like SoftMP3, MP3Scene uses multiple torrent index pages as opposed to a single main index found on most other torrent sites. There are separate browse pages each for new releases, archived releases, requests and lossless music.

MP3Scene Index

Being built on the same source base, ex members of SoftMP3, SceneSound or CareStreet trackers should feel right at home here. While there are minor changes made to the layout, favorite SoftMP3 features such as the archive section, lossless music section, customizable start page, easy to read FAQ and rules presentation, toplists and requests have all been retained.

Registrations for MP3Scene are currently open. It’s not known whether open signups would be closed anytime soon. Either way this looks like a promising new entrant to the MP3 trackers scene so go ahead and check it out.

Download High Quality Lossless Music Torrents From Lossless World Tracker

Music torrent tracker scene is currently dominated by several monolithic torrent sites such as What.CD and Waffles.FM. These sites cover pretty much all music requirements of the average BitTorrent user and thus tend to overshadow other small scale music trackers. Despite this, there are quite a few lesser known specialized music trackers out there which index unique content and not just re-hashes of same old files found on every other music BitTorrent site. Lossless World is one such tracker which has it’s own rippers, uploaders and therefore a torrent index filled with exclusive releases. As you may have guessed from the name, the site tracks high quality lossless English music relating to multiple genres. Open signups are closed but invite applications and IRC interviews are open for those who are interested in getting in – that said, note that this is not the easiest private tracker to get into.

Lossless World

Launched a couple of months ago, Lossless World has so far taken a ‘quality over quantity’ approach towards building user base as well as adding new content. The site currently tracks around 2500 torrents and has an active user base of ~500 members. If I’m not mistaken, LW is yet to have an open signup – it’s unlikely this is ever going to happen judging by the current site policies regarding user recruitment.

For a smaller niche tracker such as LW, the strength lies in tracking unique and exclusive content and not in having a massive user base. Thankfully, this is where LW excels. There are a number of music rips on this tracker that you won’t find anywhere else. They seem to have some good internal sources and a great team of dedicated uploaders. As mentioned earlier, LW is a Lossless Music tracker. Allowed music formats are limited to FLAC,APE,TAK,WAVPACK & ALAC. Some of the music categories indexed can be seen in the screenshot below:

Lossles World Torrent Categories

Quoted below are some of Lossless World upload rules – this should give you a pretty clear idea on what sort of content you can find on this tracker:

  • No radio, television, web rips, or podcasts. The only exception to this is when the recording only exists in that version.
  • We allow only FLAC,APE,TAK,WAVPACK & ALAC uploads for music
  • CD-sourced material must not have any skips, pops, or clicks.
  • All uploads must contain an info.txt file with information about album: tracklist, review(s), catalog number, and recording company. The minimum requirement is CD name, tracklist, label, and catalog number. No BBcode or HTML code
  • All uploads must contain album cover art. It should be in the root of your upload and should be named as 'thumb', 'thumbnail', 'cover', 'folder', or 'front'. File extensions: 'jpg', 'png' and 'gif' are acceptable. Only Exception is if the upload is a unofficial recording (capped show, bootleg) and there has never been a physical disc release. Including images of the CD and or tray is also encouraged in the root folder. All other high-resolution pictures (booklet scans, front and back, inside and etc) should be included in a folder named 'Artwork', 'Covers' or 'Art'. If, and only then, your Upload contains high res (min 300 DPI and min front and back) artwork, tick the "artworkbox.

Currently, there are two ways to get into Lossless World – by submitting the online invite application on by taking the IRC interview. By looking at some of the questions in invite app it’s apparent that LW are looking for active members who have something to upload back to the site. CoExist v3 Launched, Signups Open

Regular readers of this blog should be familiar with the name CoExist (CE for short). CE is a ratio free private torrent tracker specializing in all kinds of English music. Just like most other private trackers, CE has been invite only from the start. Although there have been several invite giveaways on IRC, this has been one of those ‘shy’ trackers which didn’t prefer much publicity. Good news is that registrations have now been opened probably for the first time ever on CE and you can now create a new account without the need for an invite code and without having to go through an interview. Open signups come on the backdrop of CE v3 launch – v3 is a major site overhaul including migration to Gazelle RC2 codebase and addition of many new site features.

CoExist

As some of you may remember, CE initially launched as a Gazelle based tracker. However, ongoing problems with the codebase prompted them to move to a TBDEV based implementation. This has again been changed in CE v3 – the site is back on Gazelle RC 2 and this time around the move seems to have gone smoothly. But CE v3 isn’t all about a source change – it involves a ton of new features and enhancements, some of which you can find listed below:

Added

  • Last.FM info on your profile - includes your recently played tracks / Last.FM overview / Top 50 played artists.
  • IRC Bot providing more integrated functions
  • Announce Bot for IRC announcing both torrents and forum posts.
  • Bonus Points - You get 1 point per hour per torrent.
  • Un-Read forum post checker
  • the video tag for posting youtube video's in your profile information / forums / torrent descriptions
  • Shout Box with IRC integration

Changed

  • The Studio is now Up Beat!
  • Number of forums is now reduced to make it a little less spread out.

Planned

  • Last.FM integration on artist pages
  • Auto Tagging System
  • Ability to search and download directly from IRC
  • IRC idle bonus
  • Advanced HnR system
  • Light Theme
  • CSS Template for user created theme's and a unoffical repo of style sheets.

Even with the move, CE remains to be a ratio free torrent site. Ratio system on this tracker is more or less replaced by the ‘Fame’ bonus system. There are multiple ways you can earn fame (seeding, idle bonus etc). Once you earn enough fame, you can exchange them for various goodies or gift points to other members. Note that being ratio free does not mean you can hit and run - keep everything you download seeded for at least 3 days (72 hours) within the first 5 days and you should be fine.

CE Index

As you can see from the screenshot above, CE is an English music tracker. You can find music related to various genres and of varying quality (MP3, FLAC, etc). At the time this post was being written, it indexed over 1500 active torrents and had a user base of ~2800 members. These are just starting days for CE v3 and statistics would no doubt increase in the coming days.

Registrations for CE are currently open. According to staff, open signups would continue until they recruit 5000 members. That leaves around 2200 free slots remaining so get in while you can.

TorrentTech Registrations Open – Huge Electronic Music Torrent Tracker

Great news for music fans – TorrentTech is having a rare open sign up. TT is now 4 years old and they are finishing off birthday celebrations by opening doors to new members. Being one of the largest music torrent communities currently online, this is a must have site for music lovers looking to expand their digital collection. TorrentTech tracks a ton of torrents relating to multiple music genres including House, Techno, Trance, Pop, Hardcore and many more. Just like many other private communities, this site is usually invite only (invites are easily obtainable if you join their IRC). However, you will be able to create a free account without the need for an invite during the open registration period, which will last until Monday (22nd).

TorrenTech

Quoted below is the official announcement regarding the latest round of open registrations:

to finish off our birthday celebration we'll be opening our doors to new members - from friday, noon (12h00) GMT+1 until monday, noon (12h00) GMT+1 we will have OPEN REGISTRATION.
help show off our great tT community by telling your friends and p2p homies; introduce them to our forums, our netlabel, and our radio... spread the word!
... and don't forget to keep seeding your downloads so our new friends can enjoy the terrific selection of available releases here at tT.
cheers to the next 4 years!

And now for some details about TorrentTech. By any standards, TT is a huge private tracker. At the time this post was being written, it had over 37000 active members and tracked over 66000 music torrents (pointing to over 590000 files). It may not be as large as What.CD (and there isn’t a music tracker on this planet that can rival What in terms of size so this may not be a fair comparison) but it’s still a decently sized tracker with a lot of content and members.

If you are used to standard tracker layouts such as those provided by TBDEV, Gazelle, etc, you may find TT’s interface to be unfamiliar. Built on a IP Board environment, this is one of those forum based trackers – it functions a lot like most DDL forums out there but with tracker features such as number of seeds, leechs, etc integrated into forum threads. Part of TT’s main torrent file index can be seen in the screenshot below:

TorrenTech Index

As mentioned earlier registrations for TT are currently open. Open signups will continue for three days and will on Monday the 22nd. It’s not everyday this tracker opens its doors so get in while you can.

musiCore Launches Torrent Tracker & FTP For 0-Day Scene Music Downloads

Up until now, musiCore was known amongst the file sharing community as a site which offered direct download links (DDL) to scene released music albums. However, thanks to the recent changes and new features implemented by musiCore staff, this impression will soon change. It’s no longer just a DDL forum – the site has morphed into a hybrid download engine which now offers three ways of leeching music; DDL, torrents and FTP links. For those of you who’ve never heard about musiCore, it auto uploads scene released music albums to file hosting services (and now to a torrent tracker & FTP) so that they may be downloaded by the general public. In fact, a recently pre’d SceneNotice (more info in previous article) identified this site as a ‘0sec HTTP Site Mirroring to Public’. For those of you are interested in joining, basic membership registrations are currently open.

Musicore

Although musiCore is not as popular a source for music downloads as What.Cd or Waffles.Fm, it’s actually doing a great job in terms of adding new content. Around 350 new albums are uploaded by the service on a daily basis – that’s a lot of music and you don’t often see that much of new content on other similar DDL/torrent sites. And the fact that you now get to choose *how* you are going to download the files (DDL/Torrent or FTP) should make the service even more popular.

But are all these for free? Well, most of it is, but to access some features of the site, you need to get promoted to advanced members group or become a donor. Actually the user class system and membership requirements on musiCore can be a little confusing so we have presented it in a more simplified form below:

  • musiCore is currently open for registration. Anyone who gets is through open regs will start as a ‘Basic Member’
  • Basic members have full access to DDL links.
  • Basic members do not have access to torrent downloads – However, they are allowed to upload (seed). Once you upload 1GB of data to musiCore’s tracker, you will get promoted to ‘Advanced Members’ group.
  • ‘Advanced Members’ have full access to both DDL and Torrent downloads.
  • Users invited  by existing musiCore members will automatically start out as ‘Advanced Members’.
  • ‘Advanced Members’ will all be awarded one invite each month (if they don’t have any invites left).
  • FTP access is for donors only. While ‘Advanced Members’ can log into the FTP server and view directories/files, only donors can actually download. To be honest, this part is basically a pay-to-leech operation.

musiCore offers two ways of browsing their massive index – a forum based system where music releases are organized into threads (http://musicore.net/forums/index.php) as well as using a searchable index (Log in and visit http://musicore.net/). In addition, a separate page where all DDL links (sorted by date) are added, is also available at http://musicore.net/ddl. At a glance, the forum system appears to be more user friendly – main index takes some getting used to but this too comes in very handy at times.

musiCore index

Screenshot above shows part of musiCore’s searchable index. Through the ‘Link Mode’ drop down, you can switch between modes of leeching. If you select ‘Default’ or ‘Filehoster’ options, you will be given DDL links on remote one click hosting services (click on a release name –> this will display a yellow colored box with a link –> click this and you will be directed to album download location). If you choose ‘Torrents’ from the drop down and click on an entry, the browser will immediately start to download the .torrent file (you may also start the torrent download by clicking on the number of seeds for a particular release). FTP links work pretty much the same way, provided that your user class has the necessary permissions. There are lots of additional features in this interface and we recommend you play with it and find out for yourself :p

As mentioned earlier, registrations for musiCore are currently open. Those who sign up through this method will start out as Basic Members.

Site Name: musiCore (http://musicore.net)

Registration URL: http://musicore.net/forums/index.php?app=core&module=global§ion=register

Forum URL: http://musicore.net/forums/index.php

Tracker/DDL/FTP Searchable Index URL: Log in and visit http://musicore.net/

All In One DDL Releases Index URL: http://musicore.net/ddl/

For basic members – How to upload data to musiCore:

  1. Download a music album to your hard disk from another source i.e. a torrent site or another DDL.
  2. Locate the same album release on musiCore. Download the torrent.
  3. Once you have the torrent loaded in your client, change its data directory so that it points to the location where you placed files you downloaded in step 1. Your torrent client will now re-check the data and start seeding the torrent (if files match).
  4. You can seed several albums at the same time. Once you seed 1GB+ data to musiCore’s tracker, you will be promoted ‘Advanced Member’ user class.

SceneVids – New Scene Music Video Torrent Tracker

Over the past couple of months, several new music video trackers joined the BitTorrent scene. However, sites that initially looked promising such as MVidBitz and SilverSeed disappeared all too quickly, leaving only a handful well established sites (i.e. Music-Vids) to cater the needs of music video fans. SceneVids is a brand new private tracker that aims to fill this void – it’s a specialized music video torrent site which is only a week old.The site appears to index scene released music videos and non scene uploads are not allowed. SceneVids is probably ratio free – a ratio system exists but there was a news post on site which said ‘we don’t care' about ratio’ :/ For those of you interested in becoming members, signups are currently open. It might not be the most hyped hot new tracker on the block, but it definitely has the potential to succeed.

SceneVids

During the week or so it has been online, SceneVids has managed to add over 200 torrents to its index. Over 100 of these were added yesterday (17th) alone – if SceneVids could keep up this pace with new daily torrent additions, this tracker is definitely going to be a hit among the BitTorrent community. Sites statistics as of 18/9/2010 read 215 active torrents and 800+ users.

As far as the content goes, this tracker indexes music videos and music videos only. All of the indexed torrents are scene releases and as mentioned above non-scene uploads are not allowed. As you can see from the screenshot below, videos are organized into music genres for easy browsing:

SceneVids Screenshot

Signups for SceneVids are currently open. It’s not known whether registrations would close after a certain number of users join the site or if doors would remain open forever. Either way, check it out if you are a music video fan.

CoExist Re-Enables Inactive Accounts – Ratio Free Music Torrents

More updates from the BitTorrent scene – after the bitter shutdown of Elektronik a couple of days ago, this time we have a bit of good news. As you may know, torrent trackers automatically prune user accounts when they are not used for a certain amount of time (this time period is usually mentioned in the torrent site’s rules page). Pruned accounts are often not re-enabled unless the account owner gives a good reason – this has to be manually done through site staff. CoExist (CE), a ratio free private music tracker has taken a rather unusual decision to re-enable all accounts which were previously disabled for inactivity. If you joined CE sometime back and later abandoned it for some reason, now is a good time to revisit the site and have a look around. During the last couple of months CE has added many new features and almost doubled the size of their torrent index. If you are completely new to the site and want to sign up for an account, you can obtain an invite through their IRC invites channel as well.

CoExist

Launched in February 2009, CE was off to somewhat of a rocky start – initially it was based on Gazelle codebase and there were numerous issues with this implementation. However, the site’s coders managed to turn things around (switching to TBDEV in the process) and today CE is a well customized private tracker with many additional features not usually found most other music torrent sites including the well detailed ‘fame’ bonus points system. Although the site has been closed for signup throughout it’s lifespan, it has a strong active community of 2000+ registered members. CE currently tracks 8200+ active torrents, up from 3700 back in last October. All of the torrents point to high quality English music, music videos and OST spanning across 40+ different music genres.

CE Index

As we mentioned earlier, a good reason for you to revisit CE is the addition of new usability features. Following is a summary of new features added to site – and this only covers those introduced during the month of May.

  • Further integration between CE Radio and tracker interface. This includes updated themes, ability to search the torrent index based on what’s playing on radio, last.fm search and more.
  • Tweaks to the torrent browse page. This includes new category icons, cleaned up index structure with less clutter, color coded torrents and so on.
  • New album reviews page - accessible from the little green icon in the upper right or from this link.
  • New music news page – accessible from here.
  • Artist Wiki – accessible from this location.

And let’s not forget the infamous bonus system over at CE. Ratio system on this tracker is more or less replaced by the ‘Fame’ bonus system. There are multiple ways you can earn fame (seeding, etc). Once you earn enough fame, you can exchange them for various goodies at CoExist Record Shop. CE Record Shop is far more advanced that the average bonus exchange present on most private trackers. Goodies found in the record shop are placed in four categories; Unlockables, Raids, Invites and Disk Space. Some of the stuff that can be unlocked include hidden torrents, invites and even seedbox slots.

If you signed up for a CE account earlier, you will now be able to use your old login to enter the site. If you were never a member of this site but want to find out more, a new invite can be obtained from their official invites channel.

PianoSheets Signups Open – Torrent Tracker For Sheet Music, Books, Tutorials & More

After an extended invite only period spanning across many months, Pianosheets (PS) have opened registrations to the public. PS is a very unique private tracker that indexes content not usually found on your average BitTorrent tracker. It tracks piano sheet music, tutorials, electronic books & books with audio plus other educational material that will probably be useful for all students of music. The site has been online for several years (see our previous post about PS made way back in 2008) and has a loyal user base making it one of the more active communities in the BitTorrent scene. It recently underwent a massive upgrade and is now powered by What.CD’s Gazelle codebase. If you are a musician or if you are a student currently learning/willing to learn music, chances are that you’ll find PianoSheets a pretty damn useful online resource.

Pianosheets 2

Last time we featured this tracker it only had 1500 active torrents. This amount has now risen above 6700. User base has also been strengthened and there are now over 4500+ active members registered on PS. For a niche private tracker that has been invite only during most of its lifetime, these statics are pretty good.

Like in most private trackers focusing on a niche category, content is king on PianoSheets. This tracker has some unique torrents you might not find elsewhere – piano sheet music as well as various books, educational material on a number of other musical instruments such as drums, guitar, harmonica, keyboards, organ, woodwind, etc are available for download. Magazines, lyrics, full scores, theory books, etc may also be found. A screenshot capturing part of PianoSheet’s torrent index and some of its torrent tags can be seen below:

Pianosheets Index TAgs

The ‘Collections’ section on PianoSheets makes it easier to discover related torrents. It’s a powerful usability feature that creates virtual torrent packs – something similar to ‘Collages’ found on most Gazelle based sites. This section is easily accessible from the top toolbar.

Signups for PianoSheets are currently open. This is the first open signup after several months so don’t hesitate to make full use of it. As said above musicians and music students should find this tracker useful.

KillaWaves (KWS) Invites On IRC – Tracker For Drum & Bass, Old School & Jungle Music

If you are looking for high quality music downloads, here’s a torrent tracker you’d be interested in. KillaWaves (better known as KWS) is a Gazelle based private BitTorrent tracker that specializes in Drum and Bass (DnB), Oldskool, Jungle, Ambient, Techno, Garage and Dubstep music. Launched just a few months ago, KWS is still a pretty young BitTorrent tracker – however it has already made a name for itself when it comes to high quality music album rips. It recently underwent a domain name change is now accessible from the URL http://killawaves.org. Ever since it’s launch, KWS has remained an invite only community and has never once opened its doors to the public – however, interested music fans can easily get free invites from the site’s official IRC channel.

KillaWaves

KWS’s relatively silent entry into the BitTorrent scene several months ago hasn’t gone unnoticed by music fans. Although never opened for public signups, KWS has managed to recruit a user base strong enough to keep the torrents alive. Speaking of torrents, KWS is dead serious when it comes to audio quality and only only V0, 320 and FLAC formats are allowed on this tracker. Although they are selective of quality, the number of indexed torrents does not seem to be affected. As of 4/19/2010 KWS tracked over 3100 torrents spanning across 2400+ albums by ~1400 artists.

As mentioned above KWS primarily tracks music related to DNB, Jungle, Ambient, Downtempo, House/Techno, Break, Dubstep and Garage music. Available music releases include latest albums released in 2010 as well as popular hits released back in early 1990s. As we mentioned earlier, quality of music uploads is taken very seriously on KWS – site rules indicate “All torrents must be of a bit rate no less than the VBR preset, V0. Therefore, only V0, 320 and FLAC are allowed onto this tracker. When uploading FLAC, you can easily convert it to both 320 kbps and V0”. A screenshot of KWS interface which captures several releases and category icons can be seen below:

KWS index

Note that KillaWaves makes extensive use of Gazelle’s Collages feature (which is renamed ‘Labels’ in this iteration). All new torrents are automatically added to a label and thus users are able to browse entire music collections released by a particular music label at any point of time.

KWS is closed for signups and would probably remain closed forever. Interested users can gain access to the tracker by going through the IRC interview. You will be asked a few questions about audio quality, general knowledge of BitTorrent, etc.

MixFiend – A MixTape Torrent Tracker With Tons Of Releases

Several of our readers have asked us to post about a good private torrent tracker which has mixtapes so here it comes. MixFiend is one of the largest private communities when it comes to downloading Mixtape torrents. On this tracker, you can find music related to a number of different music genres such as Hip-Hop, RnB, Reggae, etc. Some of you may not have heard about MixFiend but it’s been online for several years – we even had an old review of this tracker, which was posted way back in 2008. If you are looking for a decent place to download mixtapes at reliable download speeds you should check this tracker out. Registrations are open so joining should not be a problem even if you are a newbie to private trackers.

MixFiend

For some of you, this will probably be the first time you hear about MixFiend. However, this is by no means a small site. It’s actually a huge private tracker which has over 185000 registered users and tracks over 21000 torrents. MxF has been online since 2006 and by 2010 it’s grown into a veteran tracker that’s over 3.5 years old.

Speaking of the content on MixFiend, it’s all about mixtapes. There’s as lot of music indexed here (both old and new) that belong to the following categories;  General, Dirty South, East Coast, West Coast, R&B, Acapellas, Blends, Dance Hall, Reggae, Reggaeton, Classic / Old Tapes, International, Instrumentals, Unsigned Hype, NEW Singles, Old Singles, Chopped & Screwed, Music Videos / Bonus DVDs, Diss Tracks and Live Footage. In addition to regular mixtapes, this tracker houses some great DJ collections, instrumentals and even some bonus DVDs and music videos.

MixFiend Index

Above is a screenshot from MixFiend that shows part of its torrent index. It’s worth mentioning that with a user base close to 2k members, there’s very good activity as well as longer lifetime for indexed torrents. Apart from the torrents, MixFiend comes packed with almost all features found on a regular BitTorrent tracker including forums, search, support for multiple languages, requests and RSS feeds. The site is build on a custom tracker script and has a unique layout as well.

Registrations for MixFiend are currently open. In fact, they’ve always been open whenever we checked on this site so it’s safe to assume the doors might not close anytime soon. However it is still a private tracker and registration is required to view, download or upload torrents.

SceneSound To Give Away Invites Via Twitter

Several months ago we talked about how BitTorrent trackers have embraced Twitter as an alternate communication medium. Lately, we’ve been seeing lots of trackers using Twitter not just for communication but for expansion and member recruitment as well. We saw TL giving away invite codes for their followers, TemplateP2P tweeting random invites, Jambands recruiting via Twitter DM and ScienceHD making invite apps public through the service (and the list goes on). SceneSound is the latest site to launch a Twitter based expansion phase and they plan to give away 100+ free invites to their followers between today (10th) and Friday (12th). If you still aren’t a member of this great scene MP3 music tracker, here’s another chance to become one.

SceneSound_thumb2[1]

Launched back in June 2009, SceneSound has come a long way in a pretty short time. After being online for less than a year’s SS’s torrent index now boasts a massive 22000+ torrents. Number of registered users has risen close to 7500 and this could have been a lot higher had the site opened signups more frequently. Either way there is plenty of activity and torrents here and the download speeds are pretty decent. Main index does not record pre times but from what we saw, they weren't bad at all.

If you still don’t know, SceneSound is a scene only MP3 tracker which tracks albums released by groups such as FNT, DOH, LzY, hM, H3X, SiRE, pLAN9 and many more. Apart from the 20000 odd albums which are in MP3 format, there is lossless section on site which tracks a few albums in FLAC format. All these releases are categorized in relation to over 40 different music genres.

SceneSound

Coming back to the invite give away, all you have to do in order to become eligible is to follow SceneSound on Twitter. SS staff will keep you up to date on the proceedings and instruct you how to obtain your invites – keep in mind all of this will be done via  Twitter. To become a follower of SceneSound, do the steps below:

  1. If you don’t have a Twitter account, create one from here.
  2. Log in to your Twitter account.
  3. Follow http://twitter.com/scenesound on Twitter and watch for updates.

If you are looking for a scene only music tracker, you should seriously consider joining this site. Lots of releases, less crap and good activity. Currently. the entire archive section is on free leech – we do not know how long this will continue but use it wisely :p.

HardTracker – Torrent Tracker For HardCore, HardStyle, Schranz & Other Music

We have posted about several music torrent trackers that focus on hardcore / hardstyle music here on FILEnetworks Blog before such as Underground Ravers. For those who love this music genre, here’s another private tracker that’s shown promising growth over the last couple of months. HardTracker is a relatively new BitTorrent site that tracks hardcore, hardstyle, schranz, frenchcore, terror, dnb, speedcore, etc music. It’s not a widely known site in the BT community but for a niche tracker that’s only around 4 months old, it’s done pretty well. HT is also one of the few sites specializing in hardcore music that’s open for public registrations so fans of this music genre might want to give this one a go.

HardCore Music Tracker

HardTracker is another torrent site based in the Ukrain, which now has a reputation of being a BitTorrent friendly country (UKrain is home to other larger sites such as Demonoid and ExtraTorrent). Site’s primary language seems to be Russian. However, English speaking users need not worry as interface can be switched to English with the click of a button – just click on the English flag icon located on top right corner of a page.

Although a relatively new entrant to the BitTorrent community, HardTracker has been online for about 4 months. It has somehow managed to survive the plague which most new private torrent trackers get infected with – lack of leechers. Most of the torrents indexed on this site do have activity on them and are not dead. Speaking of torrents, HT currently tracks over 1100 torrents. These are spread across 15 categories including Hardcore, Hardstyle, Gabber, Breakcore, Schranz | Hard-Techno, Drum'n'Bass, Breakbeat, Happycore, Terror, Other, Lossless, Speedcore, Frenchcore, Oldschool and 8 bit (chiptune). Both scene and non scene releases are indexed. A screenshot of part of the main index can be found below:

HardTracker Screenshot

HT is a ratio based site but it does have a bonus system – those who have difficulty maintaining the global ratio can buy upload credits using the bonus points you earn (you earn points based on the seeding time). With enough points, you can even purchase invites to HardTracker.

HardTracker is based on a custom tracker script and you might find its layout different from that of Gazelle or TBDEV. However, it’s simpler than it looks – most of the navigation functions are located in the left sidebar instead of the top toolbar. Also, keep in mind that clicking on the ‘Forum’ button on top of the page will take you to an external site. To open the torrent index, you need to click on ‘Home’ (there is no ‘Browse’ here).

As mentioned at the start of this post, HardTracker registrations are open. Again, this is one of the few hardcore music trackers that have open registration so if you love this music genres, check it out.

SilverSeed Returns – Music Video Torrent Tracker

Back in November 2008, we ran an article on SilverSeed torrent tracker. SilverSeed (SS) was a private community that focused primarily on music video releases. Unfortunately, the site did not gain much popularity back then and eventually died due to lack of user activity. Now, nearly one and a half years later, SilverSeed has returned. This time around the site has a much better outlook and looks like it’s here to stay – there’s plenty of activity going on, lots of torrents are being uploaded daily and the staff seem to be armed with all the extra tools necessary to add value to a BitTorrent tracker (scene access, auto uploader bots, etc). For those wishing to join a growing new music video tracker, SS signups are currently open.

SilverSeed

Before we say anything about SilverSeed, here’s a brief description sent to us by one of their staff members, Silver Glass:

Hello, world. We're relaunching SilverSeed - tracker dedicated to music videos. Previous version didn't last long because of certain reasons which won't happen this time. So what's new, you ask? We have strong enthusiasm and a lot of content to offer! We already have almost 1500 torrents up and seeded (and site officially opened its doors on the 25th of January!). We have seeding bot with 300mbit speed. Also, in nearest days we will start autouploading of scene releases (announce channel will be open soon as well).

That's it, peoplez! Welcome to new Silverseed:

http://silverseed.net/signup.php

Oh, and starting from today (25th) and for two weeks in a row, freeleech and double-upload is enabled. Hurry up!

One thing is for certain – they sure aren’t lying about the content. It hasn’t even been two weeks since SilverSeed’s return (site was on beta since 15h of January 2009) and already the active torrent count has shot past 2000 (over 60 videos were added yesterday alone).  Torrents indexed on this site are pretty fast, with even torrents with 1-2 seeders having reasonable download speeds. Site navigation speeds have also improved and the slowness

Speaking about the content available on SS, it’s all about music videos. You can find and download hundreds of music videos from the US and UK, both scene and non scene releases including several large packs. Currently, videos related to 21 different music genres are indexed. Available video formats include DivX, XViD and x264 encodes. There will also be a lot of VOB (Video Object) container based files uploaded in the future. A screenshot of SS interface which shows some of the releases can be found below:

SilverSeed Tracker Index

SilverSeed is based on a customized version of popular TBDEV codebase. In terms of features, they have already added support for category based RSS feeds and more new components such as a requests system and IRC downloader & announce bot are in the pipeline. There will also be a lot of VOB releases

Signups for SS are currently open. Current user limit of the site is set to 5000 and there are 2000 users registered as at 30/1/2010. Provided the signups remain open till the site reaches user capacity, there are around 3000 free slots available for the taking. If you are interested in music videos, check it out. SS is a tracker with a promising start.

MusicThe.Net – Another Ratio Free Music Tracker With Open Signups

Private torrent tracker community seem to have this strange affiliation with names ending with ‘The.Net’. FTN probably started the trend and soon a ton of other sites such as EliteThe.Net, InspireThe.Net, StoreThe.Net and even invitations forums like InviteThe.Net followed course (we’re not saying it’s a bad thing at all – just an interesting observation). Latest tracker to join this club is MusicThe.Net or MTN. MTN is a music torrent tracker specializing in English music albums. It appears the site has Polish origins but majority of its content are international releases, both scene and p2p uploads. Just like CE, Libble and SqN, MusicThe.Net is a private tracker that does not have a ratio system.

MusicThe.Net

MTN is a small, start up tracker that’s only about two weeks old so comparing it to the likes of What.CD or Waffles.Fm would be pointless. However, we never consider ‘being new’ ‘or being small’ good enough reasons to dismiss/trash a BitTorrent tracker (or any other site for that matter).  For the 10 or so days it has been online, MTN has added around 350 new torrents. Most of these are scene/p2p releases but a good number of exclusive torrents such as discographies and collections are already indexed.

MTN screenshot

MTN is a ratio free tracker. You probably know how this works by now – there is no need to maintain a minimum global ratio on site. However, individual torrents need to be seeded for at least 60 hours (regardless of the amount of data you actually upload). A seed bonus system is present to reward the members who keep seeding. Members gain mTn tokens for seeding and these can later be exchanged for upload credit and other goodies at the MTN Club Shop.

For every hour that you seed a torrent, you are awarded with 1 mTn token...  If you save up enough of them, you can trade them in for goodies like bonus GB(s) to your upload stats, getting invites or doing the real FtM token booster... give them to another user! and yes! this is awarded on a per torrent basis even if there are no leechers on the Torrent you are seeding!

By default, MTN’s signup page and tracker layout may be displayed in Polish language. If you are an English speaking user, just click on the English flag on top right corner of the page and interface will switch to English. If you want to post something on the forums, an English section is present there as well.

SqN Invites On IRC – Ratio Free Music Tracker

Here’s yet another decent BitTorrent tracker for the music fans among our readers. SqN is an underrated (you may even call it ‘secret’, given their rules against publicity) private tracker that tracks English music albums. Although you don’t see much hype building around this tracker, there’s no denying the fact that SqN has joined the ranks of other successful ratio free music trackers. Not only does it sport a beautiful layout but more importantly it’s torrent index has improved quite a lot over the past few months. Ever since their public launch back in last July, SqN has never once opened public registrations. However, that doesn’t mean it’s a site that’s impossible to get into. They do have an official invites channel and interested readers can get invited provided they pass the short IRC interview.

SQN Tracker Logo

SqN came online back in July 2009 and today, after about 6 months since launch, their torrent index has expanded quite a lot. The site now has nearly 6000 active torrents and more releases are being added daily. However, tracker staff have been very selective when it comes to recruiting members. Most of the site’s current users are chosen from IRC interviews and as of 09/1/2010 there were around 900 registered members on SqN. Additionally, this tracker does not prefer unwanted publicity; it’s always been closed for public signups and there are rules in place that prohibit members from posting full tracker name or URL in public (which may explain why it’s not a widely discussed tracker on various BitTorrent forums and blogs).

If you are a fan of English music, chances are that you’ll find something you like on this tracker - SqN tracks music torrents related to 32 different music genres. MP3 albums, lossless music tracks, official soundtracks (OST) and even concert videos can be found here. Most of the torrents are scene releases but their Packs section (which can be accessed from the main toolbar itself) has close to 200 exclusive collections which is an impressive feat for a specialized music tracker.

SQN Index

As the title of this post says, SqN is a ratio free torrent site. That means, unlike on most other private trackers, you do not need to maintain a minimum global ratio here. However that doesn’t mean you can hit and run on torrents. Quoted from site rules:

You have to seed to a 1:1 ratio or for at least 5 days within 14 days after you finish the download.

Don't hit & run (a.k.a. leech&run).

A bonus system is also present on this tracker. You’ll receive 0.5 points per hour for every torrent you are seeding. You can later use earned bonus points to remove warnings, buy upload credit, etc. Other ways to earn bonus points include uploading a torrent, uploading a pack, making a forum post and starting a new topic on the forums.

As stated earlier the only way into SqN is via the IRC interview. It’s not nearly as hard as What.CD’s interview but you’ll need some experience with music trackers to get in. A list of questions that are usually asked in the process include:

Why do you want to join SqN?
What can you contribute with?
I need to see ratio proofs from 2 other music trackers where you have at least 20GB upload and 10GB download.
Do you have any skills? (eg: photoshop 1337, irc master, php skills)
What do you think about trading, faking, scamming? Do you trade?
How big is your music library?
Where are you from?
Where did you hear about SqN and this recruitment channel?
Promise you will USE the account.

See below for invites channel details and IRC server information. If you are new to the whole IRC thing, we suggest you first read this brief tutorial.

Server: irc.p2p-network.net
Channel: #SqN-invites
Direct Link: irc://irc.p2p-network.net/sqn-invites
Note: Follow the channel rules and do as the topic says.

When navigating the site (or trying to log in), you might get error messages such as “Too many users. Please press the Refresh button in your browser to retry.” or “The server load is very high at the moment. Retrying, please wait...”. These are caused by server being busy and usually go away after a few seconds – have patience.

Special thanks to SqN staff team for the heads up.

Jambands.fm – Private Tracker For Live Music And Concerts

Over the years two types of private torrent trackers have been reviewed here on FILEnetworks; large general trackers that appeal to a broader audience and smaller niche sites that focus on a specific category if torrents. Jambands.fm is a new private tracker that falls into the latter category. It’s a niche music tracker that specializes in live shows and concerts by bands such as Phish, Greatedul Dead, Furthur, etc. This Gazelle based tracker was open for registration only for a brief period of time after launch and has gone invite only now – however, invitations are available via E-mail requests as well as direct Twitter messages.

Jambands.Fm

It’s no secret that Jambands has been very selective about its user base; there are currently only 75 registered members. However nearly 450 torrents have already been indexed – that’s over 170 shows by around 25 different artists. Since the site caters to live music, we don’t think it tracks any copyright infringing content at all.

That brings us to content Jambands indexes. Music fans who are looking for leaked music albums that are available for purchase should not come here (try another music tracker). This tracker is all about live shows, live music and concerts. Almost all torrents are P2P uploads (making most of them exclusive to Jambands) and scene releases are non existent. Indexed albums usually come in two formats – VBR MP3 and high quality FLAC Lossless.

Jambands

There’s no denying the fact that Jambands has a beautiful interface – it uses a customized version of Gazelle codebase and the default theme is colorful and eye catching. If you don’t like the default style, there are 9 other themes to choose from.

Anyways as mentioned earlier this tracker is closed for public registrations; It was open for signup for a few days sometime back and soon went invite only. However if you think live music, live shows and concerts appeal to you, you can request an invite via E-mail.

Site Name: Jambands (http://jambands.fm)

Invite Request Email: invites[at]jambands[dot]fm

How To Request: There’s no formal format for making a request. However Jambands is currently focusing on a small, dedicated user base and are looking for people who can contribute to the tracker in some way. Some qualifying info you can mention in the email might be - trackers you are on, last.fm username, or anything that would show you are actually involved and active in other communities.

You can also direct message @jambands_fm on Twitter and request invites as well (however you’ll only be able to send direct messages after Jambands starts following you).

Special thanks to Jambands.fm Staff for information provided.

SceneSound Tracker Now Open – MP3 & FLAC Music Album Torrents

This has been on the cards for a while and SceneSound has finally opened the floodgates. If you haven’t heard already, SceneSound is a MP3 torrent tracker that deals primarily with scene releases and is similar to VIPMusic in terms of indexed content. Several months ago, when veteran MP3 tracker SoftMP3 went down, several new private trackers were launched as potential replacements. SceneSound was one of them and many would agree with us when we say SS has been the most successful SoftMP3 replacements to date. For the several months it has been online, there haven’t been many open signups. However in celebration of Christmas, the tracker will be open for exactly 1 day.

SceneSound

As a scene only music tracker, SceneSound’s recent growth has been impressive. The site currently tracks close to 20000 torrents and has a strong user base comprising of many active members. We’ve seen a lot of trackers initially uploading hundreds of new torrents per day and then soon lose the momentum after a few weeks. This however hasn’t been the case with SceneSound – there’s still a healthy flow of new releases everyday even after a few months since launch (around 25 new music albums each day). Lots of MP3 music albums as well as lossless (FLAC format) tracks may be found on this tracker. Pre times on torrents are decent and download speeds are generally pretty good.

SceneSound Layout

Some of you who are familiar with torrent site scripts such as TBDEV and Gazelle might find SceneSound’s layout a little different. That’s because the site is built on SoftMP3’s custom source which was made public after the site shut down. While there are changes made to the layout, popular SoftMP3 features such as the archive section, lossless music section, customizable start page, easy to read FAQ and rules presentation, toplists and requests have all been retained. Note that older releases (older than 1 month) can be found only in the Archive section of SceneSound (entire archive section is freeleech).

Signups for SceneSound are currently open. However, keep in mind that open registrations will only last for 24 hours. If you are interested in scene released English music, now would be a good time to create an account on this tracker.

Site Name: SceneSound (http://scenesound.org/)

Signup URL: http://scenesound.org/signup.php

At one point, SceneSound banned IP ranges from 23 different countries from accessing the tracker/web site. This move drew wide criticism from the BitTorrent community and most of the country bans were eventually lifted.

Underground Ravers (UR) Invite Giveaway 02 – Hardcore Music Tracker

About five months back we posted our first invite giveaway for Underground-Ravers (UR). UR is one of those rare, invite only private trackers that very seldom have open signups. It’s a specialized tracker dealing with hardcore/hardstyle music and is made up of a small community of dedicated members. The tracker was an instant hit among our readership but the limited open signup apparently did not last long enough till everyone got in. If you for some reason missed out on the first giveaway or if you are one of our newer readers who weren’t around back then, here’s another golden opportunity to get into UR.

Underground Ravers

You may not have heard about Underground Ravers but the site is not a newcomer to the BitTorrent scene. They have been online since 2006 and is over 3 years old. In fact this is a site with a lot of history. UR was launched as a replacement for Ravetracker which had to shut down its operations due to legal threats. Ravetracker itself was started as a replacement for its predecessor Happy2bHardcore.

Anyways since its inception UR has slowly but surely made a name for itself in the hardcore/hardstyle music niche. Without a doubt it is currently one of the best online sources to download free music related to this genre. As of 19/12/2009, UR tracked over 1500 active torrents and had a user base of 700 members. Right now releases on this tracker span across 6 main categories; live, tape, video, vinyl, CD, other and digital. There are around 15 more subcategories which make music discovery much easier. The availability of exclusive non scene uploads adds even more value to the site. A screenshot of UR’s current interface and torrent index may be found below:

UR index

For several months, UR’s layout and tracker source has remained unchanged. There is nothing wrong with the current setup but massive changes are on the pipeline. According to site admins work on UR V2 has already started and many new site features and enhancements are planned in the new release. Currently there is no specific launch date set for the new version but below is a sneak preview of of what’s to come:

URv2

As usual, UR is currently closed for signup. But don’t let that worry you – site admins have again offered a special open signup link exclusively for FILEnetworks Blog readers. This signup link will be valid only for a limited time but there will be no limit to the number of signups allowed through the link during its lifespan. So make the best out of it and enjoy UR. Don't forget to read tracker rules once you signup - if you want to survive that is.

Site Name: Underground-Ravers (http://www.underground-ravers.com)

Signup URL: http://www.underground-ravers.com/signup.php?key=FLNW091218

Special thanks to Underground-Ravers Admin for trusting us and our readers with another UR giveaway.

This news was first relayed on @filenetworks, our Twitter feed. Stay tuned for more invite giveaways this season.

Libble Now Open For Signup – Ratio Free Music Torrent Tracker

These seem to be good days for music fans. As we have highlighted before, What.CD and Waffles.Fm are not the only music torrent communities around. While these two are without a doubt excellent trackers, there are other smaller sites around which have also been successful. Today’s post is about one such private BitTorrent tracker; Libble.com. Libble is a private BitTorrent tracker that specializes in music. It runs on a heavily customized Gazelle codebase and sports a beautiful interface. But that’s not the main attraction of this site – it’s a music tracker without a ratio system, just like CoExist, TSCN, Vibes and SQN.

Libble

Libble has been around for few years and it’s done quite well as a niche private tracker during this time. At the time this post was being written there were over 10500 music albums by 8600 artists spanned across over 12000 active torrents. With 5600+ registered members, it’s has a decent sized user base as well.

As we mentioned in a previous article, Libble has a special system called ‘Share Rank’ instead of the regular ratio system commonly found on most private trackers. A brief summary of Share Rank may be found below (information is quoted from Libble Knowledgebase):

Share ranks are a system we've implemented to replace ratios. It is a measure of your contribution to the site based on several factors:
Ratio - If your ratio is between 0 and 3 you will get a positive or negative bonus based on how good (or bad) your ratio is.
Torrents Uploaded - The more torrents you upload, the higher bonus you get.
Data transferred - The more data you transfer on torrents (up or down) you higher bonus you get.
Torrents Snatched - The more torrents you snatch the higher your bonus.
Torrents seeding - The more torrents you're seeding the higher your bonus.
Hit and runs - Your total hit and runs in the last month is subtracted from your score.
These factors are combined (with different weightings) to give you a final score. This will determine your user class and whether you are put on Share rank watch or not. In general you should keep your share rank positive.

It’s highly recommended that you read the ‘Share Rank’ section in KB if you are thinking of becoming a member of this tracker. It explains things in greater detail.

Speaking of the content available in Libble, it’s all about music. You can find and download music albums related to a number of different music genres such as pop, rock, indie, punk, techno and many many more. Both scene releases and p2p uploads are tracked. In addition to releases common to most music BitTorrent sites, Libble has unique torrents of their own such as Libble Community Mix Tapes and User-Made Mix Tapes. Both lossly (MP3) and lossless (FLAC) music albums are available. Screenshot below captures a small part of Libble’s torrent index:

Libble Screenshot

Libble is a private community and is usually closed for signup. However at time of this post, public registrations seem to have opened for a limited time. We do not know when signups will close so if you do want to become a member, register ASAP. All new users will get 2 free invites upon signup (EDIT: New members do not receive any invites at first. They need to be earned.).

Site Name: Libble (http://libble.com)

Signup URL: http://libble.com/register.php

If by the time you read this post the site has become invite only, you can still try to get in by obtaining a free invite through IRC. Channel and server details are as follows:
