I’m pretty sire most of you already know about online services provided by Acrobat.com. It’s basically something like Google Docs – a set of cloud based office automation tools which includes file sharing, storage, PDF conversion/creation, online word processing, spreadsheets and even web conferencing. A free plan as well as paid subscriptions are available. The free edition has 5 PDF file conversions total, 3-person web conferencing, unlimited file downloads, online office applications, and forum-based support – this is sufficient for the day to day work of an average individual. Anyways Adobe have now released an AIR app that lets you integrate with Acrobat.com account from the comfort of your Windows desktop. With this app, file download/uploading, opening documents and viewing them online has got a whole lot easier.

Note that you can only upload document file types to Acrobat.com service. For instance, you can’t upload RAR archives or executables. Each file that’s uploaded to the cloud storage is usually opened using an online office automation application. The following online office automation apps are currently integrated with Acrobat.com:

Adobe Reader Lite 9.3 – Updater Disabled And Bloat Removed

Adobe’s Portable Document Format (PDF) is one of the most popular file formats today and it’s used in many office automation related tasks all over the world. Although there are many PDF reader applications around, Adobe Reader is perhaps the most popular viewer of them all. However, it has been subject to heavy criticism by computer power users for being a ‘piece of bloatware’. This was true to some extent – one example would be the Adobe updater which came bundled with Adobe Reader. Getting rid of this piece of crap was so hard that it required a registry hack. If you hated Adobe Reader for it’s unnecessary blot, check our Adobe Reader Lite – a hacked version of the same released by a third party.

If you haven't heard about this software before, it’s interface and functionality is almost identical to that of Adobe Reader (I’m pretty sure it uses Adobe’s code too, which might actually raise copyright concerns). However some components and functionality that are rarely used have been removed, thus improving performance and reducing resource consumption. Following is a list of ‘hacks’ featured as of Reader Lite 9.1:

Office 2010 Beta Now Available For Download

Looking forward to Microsoft’s next major update for Office suite, Office 2010? Now you can preview the software way before its launch; an official public beta has now been made available. Just like all Microsoft software usually do before release, multiple builds of Office 2010 too were leaked online. A technical preview build as well as pre release build 4536 was made available to the public by an independent scene group (iND) and then by group WinBeta. Anyways you will no longer have to rely on leaked versions to sample Office 2010 – the first public beta is here.

Note that this is a very early build of Office 2010. Microsoft advises users to install it on a test PC. It is also advised that you remove all previous Office installations before installing this build. Supported operating systems include Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 (both 32 and 64-bit versions).  Other system requirements are not that high either; You only need to have 500 MHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor or higher and just 256 MB of system memory or more.

Public beta is of ‘Office 2010 Professional Plus’ version. It includes the following software:

Like most betas, Office 2010 too has an expiration date; It’ll expire on November 2010, roughly an year later. Additionally, this version will require online activation via Windows Software Protection Platform.

OpenOffice.org 3.1.0 Final and OxygenOffice Professional 3.0.1.3 – Direct Download

doPDF 6.2 – Convert web pages, MS-Office files or any other document to PDF format

Adobe’s Portable Document Format (PDF) is one of the most widely used file formats nowadays. However, major operating systems such as Microsoft Windows or office automation suites such as Microsoft Office do not provide PDF creation support by default. There are a number of applications that facilitate PDF conversion but the software featured in this article is a little different. doPDF is a software that allows you to convert any printable document to PDF with a single click.

Unlike most converters, doPDF is not limited to a set of supported file types. It installs itself as an additional (virtual) printer. Whenever you want a web page or a document converted to PDF all you have to do is to print it using the doPDF printer. If the file is printable, it can be converted to PDF!

Also, it must be noted that doPDF does not change or remove your actual printer – you can always select it (or set it at a default) from the list of printers whenever you want to get a document printed. I’ve used this application for a while and have not experienced any problems with it so far. Check it out – it’s free software.
