PWNNetwork Open Signups And Freeleech – Games Torrent Tracker

Earlier this month we featured a new Gazelle based PC and Games torrent tracker called PwnNetwork (aka The Network). PWN was not just any games tracker - it was the successor to the much famed nTorrents. However, back when the article was posted, this site was closed to the public – only existing nTorrent members who were sent invites were able to get in. Anyway here’s some good news for those who could not join earlier – PWN has opened registrations for the first time since its launch and now everyone is able to create a free account. In addition to open registrations, sitewide free leech has also been activated to help users build a healthy ratio. As mentioned earlier, PWN is a Gazelle powered dedicated games tracker which indexes video games for PC, Mac, PS3, XBOX360, Wii and other platforms including currently discontinued, older consoles.

PWN Network

Although a site built from scratch, PWN seems to be expanding at a rather rapid pace. Since the launch of its public beta around 2 weeks ago, PWN has managed to recruit 3800+ users and index nearly 600 torrents. Of course, the user base and torrent index built around nTorrents has no doubt played a major role in these statistics – but still, it’s a good start for a new tracker by any means.

If you are looking for background information, site features and the type of content PWN tracks, we suggest you read our previous article located here. We pretty much covered everything there’s to be said about this tracker in last post and there’s no need to repeat the same information here. For those looking for a quick peek, here’s a screenshot of their torrent index:

PWNNetwork Index

Although the site is currently open for signup, don’t expect open registrations to last forever:

Thanks to everyone who has been supporting us these last few weeks. We have decided to welcome some more members into the tracker. Signups and freeleech for the weekend! They will be closed sometime after the weekend. So please tell your friends.

If you are a video games fan, go ahead and check the site out. It’s still new but given the experienced crew behind the tracker and thanks to a successful launch, the PWN’s future looks very promising.

PWN Network Now On Public Beta – PC & Console Games Tracker From NTorrents Crew

“The age of NTorrents is over, the age of PWNNetwork is just beginning” – this line was quoted from an E-mail sent from PWNNetwork to existing nTorrents members. Long time readers of this blog should be familiar with nTorrents, a private tracker that specializes in Nintendo console games. Several weeks ago, NTorrents staff revealed plans to shut down the site and launch a brand new tracker; PWNNetwork aka PWN. It was announced that instead of limiting itself to a single console, this tracker will index video games across multiple platforms, including games for both PC and other consoles. For those who eagerly awaited the launch of PWN, here’s some good news – the site has launched and is currently in public beta. These are still early days but already everything seems to be functional despite the occasional minor glitch. PWN is currently not open for signup but all existing nTorrent members should have received an invite (in fact, they should have received two).

PWNNetwork

PWN’s public beta phase commenced about a week ago, back in September. A detailed post on the launch can be found on nTorrents homepage:

PWN Network (The Network) is opening with a public beta phase. During this phase the site should be fully functional, but please, don't hesitate to report any weirdness or quirky code. We will be adding features and functionality to the site, and it doesn't always work perfectly.
We, the staff, would like to give a big thanks out to those that participated in the double upload credit purchases, in the raffles, and in general site donations. We could not have done this without your support.
Where we go depends on bringing in new users, new staff, and new code. The future of the network is bright, and vibrant.
Invites: 2 were sent out, only the second one will work. The first ones were sent in error and please disregard them.
Stats Transfer: If you want your stats to transfer please signup using your NTorrents username and email. This should happen automatically, if it does not, go to http://pwnnetwork.net/transferdb.php please note this should only be done once.
Freeleech: PWNNetwork is currently on freeleech.

Hard core NT users would be glad to know that there’s an option to transfer their stats over to the new site – it was earlier announced that everything will get reset with the migration.

PWNNetwork Torrents

Just like nTorrents, PWNNetwork is built on Gazelle codebase. The default theme and layout of the tracker is very similar to that of nTorrents. In addition to the regular features, there appears to be several new enhancements on PWN including ‘The Marketplace’, a seed bonus system, new notice system as well as SSL support.

Although still in beta, this tracker has already managed to recruit several thousand active members. As of 10/1/2010, PWN had a registered user base exceeding 3200 members. Additionally, the site tracked 230+ active torrents under Xbox, Xbox 360, Apps, Game Guides, Original Soundtrack, Movie, Wii, GameCube, Nintendo DS, PS3, Retro/Arcade, PC, mac, PSP and PS2 categories.

PWNNetwork is currently closed for signup and there is no other form of recruitment available (yet) apart from invites. However, all existing nTorrents members should have received two invites to the tracker – if you are registered on NT, check your E-mail including the spam folders (these were sent out about a week ago).Given the history of nTorrents, it’s likely that PWN too would at some point have open signups (or IRC recruitment) – you can of course count on us to report the news when this happens.

GameBurner – New Games Tracker With A Nice User Interface, Bonus System & More

2010 has been a particularly good year for specialized games torrent trackers. We’ve seen some promising new trackers such as GazelleGames emerge, we’ve seen veteran sites such as bitGAMER announce new changes and we’ve even seen old school trackers such as Underground Gamer and Blackcats Games opening signups. This post is about yet another new addition to the gaming tracker scene - GameBurner (its name and logo seems to be inspired by the popular feed management service FeedBurner). GB is a Poland based tracker dedicated to tracking PC and console video games. The site has one of the most attractive, eye catching layouts seen on a games tracker (and it appears to be built on a tracker script we’ve unheard of). Additionally, GB features a slot based downloads system that allows you to download any torrent as free leech or 2x upload, a ‘gold’ based bonus system and several other cool features. the site is currently open for signup and is accepting new members.

GameBurner Logo

We’re not exactly sure when GB officially opened to the public.  The welcome note on homepage is dated 3rd August so it can’t be much earlier since then. During the short period of time it’s been online, GB has managed to recruit over 550 new members and even managed to rack up over 800 active torrents. The number of torrents is impressive, considering the fact that this is a niche site rather than a general/0day tracker.

One of the first things you’ll notice after joining GameBurner is the flashy UI. The red and orange based layout looks and feels ideal for a games torrent tracker. It’s default torrent view is something similar to detailed ‘movies view mode’ on PTN v2 and Wunza. Each torrent has it's own tile which contains a miniature image of the game’s cover, seeder/leecher details, file size as well as three separate buttons (Normal, FL and 2X UP) that facilitate torrent download.

GameBurner Index

If you are wondering why the need for three buttons, they each serve a different purpose. If you download by clicking the ‘Normal’ button it will work like a regular download. If you download using the FL button, the torrent would become free leech (only upload amount counted towards your stats). And if you download using the 2X UP button, torrent would have double upload enabled. Note that the number of FL and 2X UP downloads a user can have at a given time is limited – this is based on the number of slots available. New users by default have two 2X upload slots and two free leech slots.

Another noteworthy feature on GameBurner is the gold based bonus system. You gain gold for seeding torrents and you can unlock some interesting site features by spending these. There are some cool features to unlock such as ‘double upload for a week’ (and my Google translated version of the bonus page had an upgrade called ‘wild penis’).

GameBurner Bonus system

As mentioned earlier GameBurner is a Polish tracker. Default site language is Polish but there is an English option which you can switch to. However, we recommend using Google Chrome’s automatic translation as the English language option seems to be incomplete. Either way GameBurner is currently open for signup and interested readers can create a free account without jumping hoops.

Blackcats-Games Now Open For Signup

The moment you all have been waiting for is finally here. Blackcats Games (aka BCG), one of the best private torrent trackers on the planet for PC and Console games, has opened its doors to the public. You can now directly sign up for a BCG account without the need for a referral code (or in other words, no need to have an invite). This is the first time BCG has opened registrations in more than two years so don’t let this opportunity go waste. If you are a fan of video gaming on PC, Console and Mobile devices, BCG is a must have tracker which indexes both new and old video games for multiple gaming platforms including DOS/Windows PC, Playstation, PS2, PS3, XBOX, XBOX 360, Wii, Gamecube, Dreamcast, Android, iPhone and lots more others. Additionally, this is one of the oldest torrent communities on the internet and Blackcats is set to celebrate its 7th birthday in a couple of months, a feat only a handful trackers have so far managed to achieve.

BlackCats Games

BCG temporarily opened signups sometime early this week but it only lasted for 8 minutes. This was actually a test to iron out the bugs in their registration system. This time however, we can confirm it’s the real thing – although it’s not currently known how long the signups will remain open, it’s likely that open registrations will continue at least for a few days. As we stated in a previous article, they are seeking to expand their user base (which is already 25000+ strong) by several thousand members members, bringing in fresh new blood into the site.

If you don’t know much about BCG, here’s why you should get an account (if you are into video games that is). When it comes to content, BCG has games for almost every platform there is on the planet. From the popular DOS/Windows PC section to PS3, XBOX360, Wii console games sections, BCG tracks over 12000 active torrents which include latest titles (scene and non scene releases), retro games and exclusive BCG member creations. Recently they have expanded to cover mobile platforms and now games for Android, iPhone etc are also available. In addition to individual releases, lots of games packs & collections (including full games sets for several consoles) have also been uploaded. A screenshot showing some of the indexed collections can be seen below:

Blackcats Games Packs

In some areas, BCG behaves drastically different from regular private trackers. For example, they have the seed points mod replacing the common bonus system on most torrent sites. This is an innovative system that lets you maintain a healthy global ratio and avoid hit and runs even on torrents that do not have that many leechers. To get a hang of many features and mods of BCG, we recommend you read their site Rules, FAQ and the Wiki immediately after signing up (Wiki contains BCG game reviews and tutorials as well – you do not need to login to read it).

Anyways as mentioned in the title of this post, BCG is currently open for signup. Use the signup URL below to create an account.

Underground Gamer – BitTorrent Tracker For DOS, Windows & Console Games Now Open

Underground Gamer is a very unique BitTorrent tracker. Unlike other games trackers which mainly focus on new releases, UG seems to deal more with retro, classic content. It indexes a lot of DOS, Windows and console games including some rare old games packs which are almost impossible to be found these days. In addition to PC and Console games, UG is known for emulation and ROM files - two elements essential for playing console games on a personal computer. Launched several years ago, this sister site of bitGamer has been able to win the hearts and minds of many PC and console gamers over time. For those who still aren’t members of this great tracker, we have some good news. In a rare move, UG has opened its doors to recruit 2000 new members – site wide free leech has also been activated in celebration of open signups.

Underground Gamer

In the last couple of months, you may have come across instances where UG  appeared to be open for signup. The site was indeed open to the public at random times but this was almost always due to automatic account deletion. In other words open signups lasted only for a few minutes. An extended, official open signups hasn’t been announced for months until now:

Underground Gamer Presents…
The Grand Reopening Freeleech!
We are proud to announce that Underground Gamer will be once again opening its doors to new members! In tribute to this wonderful moment, there will be a site-wide freeleech starting this Friday (23 July) and lasting until the following Friday (30 July).
In addition to the freeleech, we will also have some other goodies to announce soon so keep your eyes peeled!
We are limiting signups to less than 2,000 slots with a hard cap at 30k. There will be no better time to signup than now so please take this opportunity to tell all of your friends about Underground Gamer!
// UG Staff

Underground Gamer has been online for several years and has grown both in terms of user base and content over time. Being a niche games tracker focusing on retro content, you’d expect user and torrent statistics of this site to be somewhat on the low end – this however is not the case. With over 28500 registers users, it’s actually one of the largest games trackers out there – one that can even rival Blackcats Games in terms of size. As of 20/7/2010 UG tracked over 11500 torrents, again an impressive amount for a specialized tracker.

As highlighted earlier, UG deals primarily with retro, classic games. This includes old DOS based games, classic Windows games as well as a lot of ROM files for a number of different gaming consoles ranging from ATARI 2600 to NES, SNES, Genesis, MAME, NeoGeo, Amiga, etc. A ROM file is basically an image of a game cartridge which can be mounted using a compatible emulator software – this lets you play your favorite console games on the PC (an example based on SNES may be found here). Coming back to the content on UG, they even have some pretty impressive fullset ROM collections for many different consoles from the golden era – these can be found in their Collections page. Screenshot below should cast a clearer picture of the type of content indexed on this tracker:

Underground Gamer Index

Signups for UG are currently open. As stated in the quoted news post above, they will only remain open till the site hits its max user cap of 30000. This leaves around 1200 more free slots remaining – a lot of people are signing up as we speak so hurry and get in while you can. If you like retro PC games, ROMs and emulation, this is definitely a site worth checking out.

TPTB - BitTorrent Tracker With PC Game Rips

There was a time when PC game rips were hugely popular. They were hits among the gaming community especially during the late 1990s, when scene groups such as CLASS, BACKLASH, MYTH, etc were active (they guys obviously released a lot of ripped games). A rip is basically a stripped down version of a PC game with reduced file size. This reduced size is usually achieved by re encoding/removing in game movies (or FMV), removing music, removing extra languages or by simply using a better compression algorithm. The smaller size facilitated easier online storage and saved bandwidth, both of which were valuable resources back then. However, as internet speeds improved and transferring large files over the web became relatively easier, the demand for game rips gradually decreased. But does that mean the art of ripping games is a thing of the past? Well, not really. Although not as popular, game rips are still around. If you still seek to download them, this post is about a private torrent tracker that focuses solely on this type of releases.

The Powers That Be

Although not as hugely popular as groups such as RELOADED, Razor1911, SKIDROW or ViTALiTY, scene groups who still release rips still do exist (i.e. UNLEASHED). However when it comes to these releases, non scene groups are nowadays more active than the scene. Their releases are usually made available over file sharing networks such as private trackers or DDL forums instead of topsites.

However, you won’t find a lot of game rips on General/0Day scene trackers or surprisingly, even on dedicated games trackers. But here’s a private tracker that’s dedicated to tracking game rips. TPTB (short for ‘The Powers That Be’) tracks a lot of unique and exclusive releases that you won’t easily find anywhere else. TPTB runs on TS Special Edition 7.0 codebase and has been around for several years. The site currently tracks close to 500 torrents, vast majority of which are games.

TPTB index

As you can see from the screenshot above, TBTB’s game rips collection even includes titles released just a few days ago. Most of these are uploaded by the site’s internal groups (hence the ‘TPTB’ tag in torrent title) and are exclusive to the tracker. If you want to know what’s ripped from a game, you can usually find that information in a torrent’s description page. Most of the rips I have come across so far were done in a way that did not cause any serious harm to a game’s playability – in most cases only unnecessary info (such as extra languages from MULTI5 and MULTI8 releases) was removed. In short, these guys are pros and they know how to reduce the size of a game without screwing it up. While the content is great, one downside of this tracker are the download speeds – they are average at best and there are some torrents without enough seeder activity to keep them going.

Although a little shy on the publicity front, signups for TBTP are currently open. If you are interested in downloading PC game rips, you might find this tracker to be useful.

TorrenTGui (TTG) Signups Open – Private Tracker For Games, Movies & TV Shows

These are indeed good days for private tracker buffs. Yet another excellent BitTorrent site, TorrentGui (TTG) has opened public registrations and is currently accepting new members. Understandably, some of you out there might not be familiar with the name ‘TTG’. Even though the name is new, this is by no means a new, start up tracker. TorrentGui was previously known as GameGui and used to specialize in video games. Now, it has rebranded itself as TTG and has expanded site operations to track software, movies and TV shows in addition to PC and console games. It has an impressive collection of high definition video content and is home to several P2P encoder groups including ‘WiKi’, who used to release exclusively on HDChina. TTG will be open for public registration for three days starting today.

TorrentGui

With over 35000 registered members (at least in their forums), TTG is one of those huge private trackers. Bulk of this user base migrated from GameGui which itself was one of the largest Chinese torrent sites during its time. Their torrent index is also decently sized with around ~7500 active torrents indexed at time of posting.

Although TTG began as a games only tracker, the site has now expanded to index video content including movies and TV shows. You can even find software and other releases which makes this essentially a General/0Day tracker. If you are wondering, TTG still seems to focus a lot on games and their PC/Console games collection is as impressive as it ever was. In addition, this tracker has quite a few exclusive releases with the help of internal encoder groups such as WiKi (Ex- HDChina), NGB, BPMWell, BD Club, QW (games) and WiiDao (Wii games). The screenshot below captures ofr of TTG’s torrent index:

TTG Screenshot

Although the majority of releases indexed on this tracker are in English, it’s navigation interface does not have an English language translation option – it’s all in Chinese. However, there is no need to worry – you can get over the translation woes with the help of Google Chrome.

How to translate TorrenTGui to English with Google Chrome

  1. Download the latest version of Google Chrome browser from here.
  2. Visit TTG forum homepage through this link: http://torrentgui.com/bbs/index.php.
  3. Once the page is done loading, Google Chrome will automatically display several translation options (the message will be displayed just beneath the address bar – you can’t miss it).
  4. Choose the auto detected settings (should be Chinese Simplified Hans to English) and hit translate. If you get the message  ‘Translation failed due to server error’ keep re-trying.
  5. Once translation of the first page is done, you can configure Google Chrome so that it automatically translates all TTG pages without prompting you. Select the ‘Options’ button (in the translation help popup) and select ‘Always translate Chinese Simplified Hans to English’ from the drop down menu.

How to register for a TorrentGui account

As mentioned in the title of this post, TorrenTGui will be open for signup in the next three days (until the 16th). Registration is fairly straightforward but detailed information is given below should you need it. It’s recommended that you have set up automatic translation before trying the registration process.

  1. Visit TTG forum homepage through this link http://torrentgui.com/bbs/index.php
  2. Open the registration page using http://torrentgui.com/bbs/register.php
  3. Fill out the registration form and hit submit. Login to the site through your credentials.
  4. Complete the registration process by going through the profile information dialogs.
  5. Once registration is complete, click on the ‘PT’ button on top left hand corner of the page. This will redirect you to the private tracker (link is http://torrentgui.com/bbs/ptredirect.php)

nTorrents To Shut Down, Plans To Launch PWN - A Multi Platform Games Tracker

During the past couple of years, nTorrents has been a premier destination for those seeking to download Nintendo video games. Being one of the first private trackers to migrate to the now famed Gazelle codebase, nTorrents gained huge popularity even though it catered to a smaller niche in the gaming community. Despite its popularity, NT administration is planning to shut down the site pretty soon. Plans for the the site’s XBOX360 torrents section which was to be morphed into a separate private tracker called xTorrents, have also been scrapped. However, it’s not as bad as its sounds - NT crew will be launching PWNNetwork, a brand new games tracker that will not limit itself to a single gaming platform but cater to a wider user base comprising of both PC and console gamers. In short, PWN will be the future of NT.

PWNNetwork

As of right now, PWN seems to be in a closed, private beta testing phase. Although the site is live, registrations are not open and there is no recruitment going on in any of the BitTorrent forums or on IRC. Existing NT members who purchased a ticket in their last raffle will be invited in by staff as beta testers.

The full announcement regarding the change (quoted from NT homepage) is posted below:

Ladies and gentlemen, the big news. NTorrents is closing, our xbox sister-site XTorrents is not going to be released. We're simply combining resources into a powerful gaming tracker instead. All your favorite staffers, a few new ones, and a fresher (less buggy) gazelle code. Combine this with a new look, including a few modifications, along with our reputation of an outstanding community. We welcome you to PWNnetwork.net.

Why is this happening you ask? Easy, we want to advance beyond the constraints of offering one company's games, and we don't want to split our userbase among two sites to do it. This will be a gradual process instead of an instantaneous action though, NTorrents will stay open as an archive until we get our most dedicated users to switch over to PWNnetwork. Sign up with PWN will be separate from NT, so yes, you will lose all of your stats. Don't worry too much though, for an undetermined amount of time after the site goes live, we will support an integration processes where we will transfer your upload and download stats from NT to PWN. Everything else will be lost.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, I have more news. After our raffle is closed, and we've gotten the prizes to the winners sent out, we will also be issuing beta access to PWN to every person who purchased a ticket in the raffle. This will be a beta period, in order for a decent amount of users to test the site, pitch ideas, and help work out issues before PWN officially goes live. So, if you don't want to wait until we launch the site to check out what PWN has to offer, go buy that ticket! Not only will you get into PWN early, but you will have a chance to win one of those great prizes.

We appreciate everyone in our community, and we hope, even though the NT journey will be ending, that we will continue being awesome through PWN.
//Staff

A public launch date for the new tracker is yet to be confirmed. However, one thing is certain – PWN will have a head start with the backing of large user base, experienced staff, uploaders and Nintendo/XBOX360 torrents that NT already has. At the time this post is being written, nTorrents has over 17500 active users and nearly 4000 torrents. Either way we wish this new tracker the best of luck and will post updates when/if it opens registrations or any form of recruitment anytime soon.

GazelleGames – Games Torrent Tracker Running on Gazelle RC2 (Open Signups)

Here on FILEnetworks Blog, we talk about video games a lot. In fact, our PC Games section is equally popular as our private trackers section and brings in a lot of traffic to the site every day. Hence, we have reason to believe that an article about another specialized games torrent tracker would generate positive responses from our readers. GazelleGames is a private tracker that indexes games for DOS/Windows PC, XBOX, XBOX360, Playstation 1,2,3, PSP, Nintendo 64, Wii, iPhone and lots of other gaming platforms available today. Running on the shiny new Gazelle RC2 codebase, GGn has so far shown great results in design, content and community aspects of the site and seems to be one of those few trackers that have a positive outlook for the future.

GazelleGames

Ever since we heard news of GGn (back when it was in beta), we’ve been in touch with it’s SysOP/Recruiters who kept us up to date on the progress of the site. One thing we could clearly see was that site staff were really passionate about what they were doing - they were not is a rush to start yet another games tracker and be done with it, they wanted GGn to stand out from the rest. It would be unfair to compare GazelleGames to leading games trackers such as bitGAMER and BCG since it’s only been a few days since the site has gone public. However, they already do boast an impressive set of site features that can even rival well established BitTorrent trackers –listed below are some of them (parts quoted from official GGn review on their forums):

  • Game Reviews (GamePedia) - We are not only a Games tracker but we also supplement the content with comprehensive reviews of games that you might like to check out. Supplied by members, each review is analyzed by the staff to make sure it is of top-notch quality. Also, on that note, submitting a review to the site has its incentives...(think freeleech on ALL platforms for said game as well as a few GB's of upload for yourself).
  • GGn Wiki- Have a thirst for more knowledge? Check out our Wiki articles and quench that thirst. You can read up on about everything from how to build your ratio, to information on the scene. Have information to share? Create your own wiki article and share it with our users!
  • Games - We aim to please when it comes to content you are looking for. Yes we are new, and somewhat lacking in content...but don't let that fool you. Our uploaders have a priority upload list which includes the Top 1000 Games list, including old and rare gems, as well as new releases. We are also getting an auto-upload script working so that we can get those great pre-times that so many of you have learned to love!
  • IRC - We have active irc channels if you would like to join in and share info with other IRC members, and you can also get some "behind the scene" info on current site news.
  • Community - The biggest aspect of the site we pride ourselves on is the community. From friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff, we are also chock-full of members who are as passionate about games as you are. We love to talk gaming, and by checking out the forums and IRC channels, it really shows. We have a very welcoming community that absolutely love gaming, so join in on the fun!

Add to these the great navigation, organization and search features provided by Gazelle RC2 and you have a great looking specialized private tracker on your hands. The screenshot below shows part of GGn’s torrent index:

GazelleGames Index

GGn publicly launched just two days ago after an extended beta phase. Although it was invite only during the beta, signups have now been opened to facilitate further expansion. The site has so far done really well with around 1000 new members signing up and ~200 torrents uploaded during the short period of time it’s been online. Open signups will continue until GGn reaches its current user limit of 5000 – if you are someone used to downloading games over BitTorrent, don’t forget to check this site out. You get 1.5GB free upload credit upon signup and all new torrents have free leech for the first 6 hours they are alive.

Blackcats Games Invite Giveaway – 500 Free BCG Referrals

BCG is considered by many as the holy grail among games torrent trackers. This veteran private torrent site (which by the way is over 7 years old) has a lot of PC, console and mobile video games along with a large, dedicated user base who keep these torrents alive. However, BCG is not the easiest tracker to get into, especially if you are a newcomer to the BitTorrent scene. Open signups almost never happen on this tracker and you can only become a member either through a referral from an existing member (referrals are BCG’s alternative to the invites system commonly found on private trackers) or via an official recruitment thread on select BitTorrent forums. If you still aren’t a member of this tracker, good news is that thanks to stoi (BCG SysOP) we now have at our disposal 500 referral codes to be given away to FILEnetworks Blog readers.
UPDATE: We have received well over 500 requests. As we commented earlier, please do not send any more emails – this giveaway has now concluded. Referrals will be sent to selected emails in the coming days.

Blackcats Games

BCG crew seem to be in a mode of expansion right now and they’ve just given 10 referrals each to most of their existing members. According to stoi there are now 187,225 free referrals ‘out there’ in the system. If you are an existing BCG user, now would be a good time to check your account – you may have received them as well. Although BCG isn’t really short of members, new blood is always welcome in a private tracker. Their user base currently hovers somewhere around the 27000 - 30000 mark and the plan is to recruit several thousand new members within the next month.

Recently they have expanded to cover mobile platforms and now games for Android, iPhone etc are also available on this tracker. In addition to individual releases, lots of games packs & collections have been uploaded – some of these can be seen in the screenshot below:

BCG Screenshot

One thing you should know about BCG is that it’s functionality in some areas is drastically different from the average private tracker. For example on BCG there are no invites – these have been replaced by referrals. Same goes for the Seed Points mod – it’s an advanced system that essentially replaces the seed bonus system on most private trackers. We strongly recommend everyone to check the site’s Rules and FAQ pages first thing you login – without reading these your stay on BCG will be short lived. You can also find many helpful tutorials on this forum section of the site. Anyways it’s time to get back to the invite giveaway :)

How to send the referral request

Referrals can be requested / sent back via E-mail. Before you send in the request, please do some background reading and get a basic understanding of how the Seed Points system and Hit and Run warning system functions on BCG. To prove that you at least tried, please answer the two questions below and send the answers with your referral request email. Answers to both questions are available in this forum post stoi made on FileSharingTalk (FST) forums.

  1. To receive Seed Points for a particular torrent, what is the minimum active time requirement you need to have on that torrent?
  2. What is the minimum individual ratio a torrent needs to have for you to safely stop seeding it (without getting it counted as a hit and run)?

Here’s how you need to send the referral request E-mail

  1. Address the E-mail to invites[dot]filenetworks[at]gmail[dot]com
  2. Set the subject to BCG 01 . Please don’t get this wrong as we use the subject to filter invite requests.
  3. In the message body, specify clearly your answers to both the questions mentioned above.
  4. In message body, insert the link to your profile page of any private tracker you are currently a member of – for example http://sitename.com/user.php?id=12345 . You do not need to have a massive buffer or an unbelievable ratio – not being a Hit and Runner and not being a collector would be suffice.
  5. Send the mail. If you are successful, a response with a referral code will be sent back.

Use your referral before it expires

In the next few days, we will be sending out referrals in batches of 125. Please allow us one week to send out all the referral codes. This is not an automated process and we will have to manually verify the request, generate the referral and then send it to the requester via email. Needless to say it’s a time consuming process.

Note that a referral code expires after 6 hours. That means, you have to use the code within 6 hours since we generate it or the code would become invalid. Make sure to use an email you check frequently when sending the request. Since there can be various obstacles such as time zone differences, etc, we have taken the following steps to make this process more convenient for our readers :

After each batch of codes is sent, we will immediately notify you via E-mail, Twitter and Facebook. You can use any one or all of these mediums to stay up to date.

  • E-mail – An email with the code will be sent back to the E-mail account you used to send the referral request.
  • Twitter – Follow us on Twitter and we will Tweet whenever we send out a new batch of referral codes. http://twitter.com/filenetworks
  • Facebook page - ‘Like’ our Facebook page to become a fan of it. Then you will get an update on your FaceBook wall immediately after we send out referrals: http://www.facebook.com/filenetworks

If you didn’t receive a code after a certain batch of codes were sent out, don’t lose hope as you might get it in the next round. However do keep in mind that we only have 500 codes (at this point) at our disposal and these will be served on a first come, first served basis. We may be able to do additional giveaways in future but this is not confirmed as of yet.

What to do after you receive the referral code

Like many other areas of the site, BCG’s referral/signup/login system is very unique. Follow the steps below to use your referral code to create a new account:

  1. Visit http://www.blackcats-games.net
  2. TYPE the word referal into the search box (don’t change the spelling), without hitting submit or enter. Once you do, Email and referral code (aka referral link) text boxes will appear at the foot of the page
  3. Enter a valid email address (NO HOTMAIL) and code in the boxes given. Then submit.
  4. Check mail for link and proceed to signup page
  5. Fill in your details and submit. this will then send you a completion email and more importantly, the keyword.
  6. Back at http://www.blackcats-games.net you must type in the keyword in the search box. Username pass fields will appear at the foot of the page.
  7. Enter your credentials at the username, password fields and hit submit. Enjoy BCG

Special thanks to stoi for hooking us up with referrals.

nTorrents Nintendo Games Tracker - Now With Autouploader & New DDL Forum Section

One of the best places on the internet to find and download Nintendo games just got better. The popular private torrent tracker nTorrents (NT) is now powered by a brand new auto upload server ensuring better indexing of scene releases at faster pre times. In addition, plans are afloat to populate the newly created direct download links section on NT forums which is pretty much inactive right now. Anyways that’s not all the good news we have from NT –  public signups have been opened once again and the site is expected to remain open till the user limit hits 20k members or at least for a few days until it’s manually stopped by staff. Last open signup for NT was on February 2010 and if you missed out back then, here’s another chance to create a free account on this usually invite only BitTorrent tracker.

nTorrents

A news post on the new server purchase appeared on NT about a week ago:

We would like to extend a personal thanks to all the donors and members that make NT the place that it is. We were able to get a new auto upload server.
Quad Xeon 2.83ghz
8GB RAM
2x750GB RAID 0
1Gbit/200Mbit – OVH
Expect lower pretimes in the future. As a special thanks to the NT community, site is on freeleech until Sunday! Happy Easter, have a great weekend.
If any donors didn't receive their benefits, please send me a PM.
- NT Staff

Of course, nTorrents did make use of an autouploader bot prior to the new purchase. However, the new server is said to be 3x faster and is expected to do a better job at uploading scene releases to the tracker.

For those who have not heard about nTorrents before, it’s a specialized Nintendo games tracker that runs on Gazelle codebase. NT is a well established torrent community with over 16500 users and 3700+ active torrents. Speaking of releases, nTorrent does not only index scene releases – they do have a lot of p2p originated content available as well. Examples of such non scene content are complete console game sets which are essentially huge games packs categorized by name. DVD Images as well as ROMs for a number of different Nintendo consoles including Wii, NDS, SNES and more are available. For a detailed description of the content on nTorrents, screenshots and additional information, please refer to our previous review located here.

As mentioned in the first paragraph, signups for NT have been opened again. A news post on homepage reads:

Signups have been opened. This will last until we hit 20k users or it is stopped manually. Please take advantage of this opportunity by letting your friends know.

Note that NT has an official IRC invites channel where staff hand out invites to potential new members. Anyways you can now use the signup URL below to create an account for yourself, without going through any interview.

XBOX-SKY Tracker : Now With XBOX, XBOX360 Torrents, HD-WMV Movies & More

When it comes to private torrent trackers that specialize in XBOX and XBOX 360 games, XBOX-SKY is probably the most popular. Although this site has been mentioned on FILEnetworks before, we never got around to posting a full tracker review so here goes. Without a doubt XBOX-SKY indexes one of the largest collections of XBOX/X360 games torrents on the planet. In addition to the BitTorrent tracker, the site has a very active forum with over 40k members, making this an ideal community for XBOX console owners. It is also worth mentioning that XBOX-SKY indexes a small number of HD-WMV (Windows Media High Definition Video) movies apart from games torrents.

XBOX-SKY Tracker

That being said – this is by no means turning into a movie tracker. Main focus remains on XBOX games and when it comes to those, this tracker pretty much kicks ass. XBOX-SKY has almost everything imaginable related to Microsoft’s famed gaming console ranging from full games torrents, DLC (Downloadable Content) packs, game demos, game extras (such as map packs, etc), applications (over 100 of them), hacks, tools and even indie games released on XBOX Live.

Let’s of course not forget about HD-WMV movies. You might wonder what prompted a games tracker such as XBOX-SKY to index movies. It’s simple – new generation gaming consoles such as PS3 and XBOX360 can play videos encoded in HD WMV. Currently there aren’t many movies indexed but this can change in the future.

XBOX-SKY Screenshot

XBOX-SKY runs on a custom tracker script which you don’t often see on other BitTorrent trackers. It’s design is simplistic and some functions such as sorting by seeds, date added, etc are dazzling fast. It doesn't have separate torrent description pages but the release NFO automatically loads in a floating menu when you hover mouse pointer over a torrent title.

Signups for XBOX-SKY are currently open. These usually last only for brief periods of time so get in while you can ( if you find the registrations to be closed by the time you read this, check back later. It’s been constantly opening and closing in the past few days.)

Ntorrents Is Open – Nintendo and XBOX Games Torrent Tracker

Wow Ntorrents is open after what seems like a lifetime. This is without a doubt one of the best resources on the net for Nintendo games downloads. Ntorrents tracks a large selection of games for a number of different Nintendo consoles such as the Wii, GameCube, Nintendo DS, GBA. N64 and more (they now have an XBOX360 games section for X360 fans as well). This tracker hasn’t had an open signup in months. If memory serves correct, last time nTorrents opened up was back in late 2008, almost an year ago. Now here’s the good news – public registrations at NTorrents has been opened for a limited period and if you were looking forward to get in, now is the perfect time.

nTorrents

Running on the Gazelle codebase, Ntorrents has one of the best looking interfaces among private torrent trackers. User interface is sleek, has smooth navigation and is very well organized. NT actually was one of the very first private trackers to migrate to Gazelle. This site has been online since 2008 and has established a solid footprint in the BitTorrent community. As of 24/10/2009 Ntorrents tracks over 4400 active torrents and has a user base close to 10000 members.

A said earlier NT is primarily a tracker for Nintendo games. You can find and download games (and in some cases ROMs) for the following Nintendo consoles:

  • Wii
  • GameCube
  • Nintendo DS
  • GameBoy Advance
  • GameBoy Classic
  • NES
  • Super Nintendo
  • Nintendo 64
  • WiiWare

Note that the default ‘Torrents’ page will mostly show you Nintendo torrents. But this tracker does have a large number of XBOX360 torrents which can be accessed by the torrents2.php page (‘x360’ link at the topmost toolbar or via the xbox360 category in search). In addition to games, they have some books, OSTs and some game related movies indexed as well. Part of the torrent index can be seen in the screenshot below:

nTorrents index

Signups for NT are currently open – note that this does not happen often so be sure to make use of the opportunity. It is currently unknown till when open signups will continue. If by the time you read this article signups have closed, you can try their IRC invites channel linked to below.

List Of BitTorrent Trackers To Download PC And Console Games (Open Signups)

Gaming and BitTorrent are two of the most frequently discussed topics here on FILEnetworks. Here’s a post we think would bridge gaming and torrenting together. Featured in this article are 11 private torrent trackers specializing in PC, XBOX360, PS1, PS2, PSP, GameCube and Wii games (and even ROMs and emulation). Between these trackers, you’ll pretty much be able to download any game you want. All of the sites mentioned in this article are open for signup – you will not have to beg for invites or wait in IRC recruitment queues. As usual, summarized information about trackers with statistics, links to full review and signup URLs are provided for your convenience.

Note that this is not a complete list of specialized games trackers that are currently online. Trackers that have closed signups were not included in the list. Also note that some trackers might close registrations after very short periods of time – if this happens, there is no other option than to retry later. As always, please take a moment to read the full review of a tracker before joining it – signing up for a site that you’ll never use is not going to help anyone.

GamesAccess – BitTorrent tracker for PC/Console games, rips and more

It’s been ages since a specialized games torrent tracker was featured here on FILEnetworks Blog. But have no fear - GamesAccess (GA) is here to fill the void. GA is a games-only private tracker that has been online since 2008. We did in fact post an article about it last March, back when the site was open for signup. However lots of things have changed over at GA during the past couple of months; first major revision of the site (GA v2.0) was launched and the site went into invite-only mode for an extended period of time. Good news is that GamesAccess has re-opened public signups - you will not need an invitation code if you register during this time.

GamesAccess Logo

GA is a Polish private tracker. If you are an English speaking user, don’t let that bother you – almost all games indexed on GamesAccess are NA/EU releases. Anyways for a tracker that has been online since 2008, GA has received very little attention from the BitTorrent community (them being invite only might be one of the reasons). However as we see it, GA is a tracker that has a lot of potential. Even without much publicity it has managed to form an active user base comprising of around 2400 members.

As mentioned earlier, GA is a tracker best suited for game addicts. You can find games for multiple gaming platforms such as the PC, XBOX360, PS1/PS2, Mobile devices, etc. Both scene releases and P2P uploads are indexed. One of GA’s key strengths is its unique content. For example, it tracks over 30 games packs in the ‘Packs’ category – almost all of these exclusive to this tracker. Additionally, it is one of the very few private torrent trackers to track PC game rips. Even giants in this niche such as BlackCats games and BitGamer do not track that many PC game rips that mostly originate from P2P sources.

GamesAccess Index

That being said, GA definitely has room for improvement. For example, it could do with a boost to the rate new torrents are being added. Right now only around 5 torrents are being added daily (site currently has 500 active torrents total) – being a niche tracker, this might be a reasonable number but it would be good to see more retro games, etc being uploaded on a frequent basis.

GamesAccess is currently open for signup and you no longer require an invite code during signup. We are unable to confirm till when the site would remain open. It’ll probably remain open till current max user limit (3000) is reached. After that, it might go invite only again for months so get in while you can.

Wii-Leech – New Private Tracker For Wii Games

It’s always exiting news when new trackers open up. It’s even more exciting when niche trackers go online. Wii-Leech is one such specialized tracker that is brand new to the BitTorrent scene. As the name suggests, this tracker focuses only on games and tools related to the Nintendo Wii video game console. Although Wii is hugely popular, there are only a handful torrent trackers that focus on this niche such as nTorrents and GCTracker (down). There definitely is room for more similar trackers and Wii – Leech seems to be a nice new addition to this list.

Wii Leech

It’s only been a few days since this tracker has been launched it it already tracks over 120 torrents. Almost all of these are Wii games (both PAL and NTSC formats are available) apart from a few torrents related to Wii modding, toolkits and guides. Currently there are around 22% registered members but these numbers are expected to go up as the site gains more exposure.

Wii Leech screenshot

Most of the indexed game releases seemed to be those pre’d by groups from the warez scene (not exactly sure how much p2p oriented content is there).

As you might have noticed, most new trackers launch with free leech, double upload, seed bonus system and other little gizmos.  Well Wii-Leech doesn’t have any of these – it looks like a tracker that is solely focused on content, as opposed to looks and extras. Anyways the site is brand new and nothing much can be said about it at this stage. But if you are looking forward to join a torrent community dedicated to Wii stuff, check this out.
