List Of Private Torrent Trackers & BitTorrent News Accounts To Follow On Twitter

With around 190 million internet users now having Twitter accounts, it has become a social network that no one can ignore. Twitter’s widespread use has prompted almost every major website to maintain a presence on the service and interact with their fans online. BitTorrent sites are no exception form this phenomenon – many torrent trackers, which usually resort to mediums such as IRC (Internet Relay Chat), forums and E-mail to communicate with their members, can now be seen maintaining official Twitter accounts to update users in real time. These accounts are frequently used to release latest sites updates, downtime news, free leech information, heads up on upcoming open signups and in some cases, even to conduct Twitter based invitation giveaways. This article includes a list of 80+ official Twitter accounts of torrent trackers which you can follow to stay up to date on happenings in the BitTorrent scene.

We published a similar post about a year back which summarized Twitter account details of 25 BitTorrent sites. This is a more complete article which has up to date information on even some of the newly launched trackers. Note that the core list featured on this post was compiled and sent to us by the guy behind @tracker_nfo. @tracker_nfo is a BitTorrent news service which operates solely on Twitter (Follow http://twitter.com/tracker_nfo to preview and receive updates). We have added some accounts to the original list, done some minor edits and linked to tracker reviews where applicable should you need more details on a particular tracker.

Twitter Accounts Of Active Private Torrent Trackers With English Content

Following sites deal with English content and almost all status updates can be expected to be in English language. Twitter accounts of 40+ torrent sites and 2 DDL forums are listed in this section.

Twitter Accounts Of Active Private Torrent Trackers With Regional/Localized Content

Following sites may index non English material specific to certain countries/regions. Status updates may not always be in English language.

Twitter Accounts Of Inactive Private Torrent Trackers

Sites associated with following Twitter accounts are no longer active.

Twitter Accounts Of Public BitTorrent Sites And Semi Private Trackers

Listed below are Twitter feeds of several public and semi private BitTorrent sites.

Unofficial Twitter Accounts That Are Not Operated By Tracker Staff

Following accounts appear to be the official Twitter presence of certain trackers but they actually are not. These are not operated by tracker staff and information relayed through these may not always be reliable.

If you know any other official Twitter feeds of BitTorrent sites not mentioned in this list, feel free to add them below as a comment. We will update the post with new information. And of course, don’t forget to follow @filenetworks – that’s our own Twitter feed which features real time automatic Tweets when new articles are posted, snap open signup updates, news on latest online leaks and more (Follow http://twitter.com/filenetworks to start receiving updates).

Once again, thanks a lot to @Tracker_nfo for the great work with the list.

Heads Up : TemplateP2P Will Have Open Signups During Christmas 2010/New Year 2011

As we mentioned in a previous post, expect a lot of closed file sharing communities to open public signups this holiday season. Here’s a little heads up on one such DDL forum that will have open registrations this Christmas and new year – TemplateP2P. TP2P will open its doors to the public for one whole week starting 25th of December. For those of you who have not heard about this site before, it’s a DDL forum which indexes templates, graphics, code snippets and scripts, invaluable resources if you are a web developer, graphics designer, software engineer or a student. List Of Public Pre & Trace Services To Track Latest Scene Releases (IRC + Web Based)

As we have mentioned in several of our previous posts, Pre and Tracer channels go hand in hand with private torrent trackers and scene releases. Pre channels announce when new scene releases are leaked online while tracer (Torrent Racer) channels can be used to find out which private trackers index these leaked releases first. Usually, these are IRC based services and have their own interactive channels which allow searching, retrieving statistics + all time rankings and so on. This article is about three such Pre and Tracer services, one based on OMGWTFHAX network, another on Corrup-Net network and the other on G2x3KS Pre.Mirrors. All of these services are public and are accessible by anyone. For those of you who consider joining IRC channels a hassle, easy to use web based versions are also available. If you want to receive instant updates on when and where scene releases get uploaded to, check these out.

Pre and Tracer Channels on OMGWTFHAX

omgwtfhax

Good news is that Pre and Tracer channels on irc.omgwtfhax.net network are back online. These channels, which were closed for a while have now been re-opened and are fully functional. The services are operated by BTN SysOP AzzA, who is a veteran in the BitTorrent scene. Using these channels is pretty straightforward – you can idle on a channel to receive live pre/trace announces and use built in commands to search for a particular release, see statistics about a particular tracer or pull specific race information from the server. For a list of supported commands, type !cmd while in a channel.

Available IRC Channels:

All of the channels listed below can be found on irc.omgwtfhax.net network (you can use the direct link to instantly log into any one of them):

  • #pre – Pre channel. Announces when scene releases are leaked online [Direct Link]
  • #trace – Tracer channel. Announces when private trackers indexed leaked scene releases [Direct Link]
  • #trace-chat – Allows users input commands and search for specific torrent races [Direct Link]

Available Web Based Services:

G2x3KS Pre & Trace Services

G2x3KS

G2x3KS is better known for web based services than IRC - Pre and Tracer facilities provided by G2x3KS are simple and can be used by anyone with who knows how to handle a web browser. However, for power users who are more into IRC channels, IRC based versions are also available. Links to both web interface + IRC are listed below.

Available IRC Channels:

All of the channels listed below can be found on layer13.it.cx network. Both non SSL (port 7000) and SSL (port 6697) connections are available. You can use the direct link to instantly log into any one of these channels:

Available Web Based Services:

As we said earlier, G2x3KS services are better known in the community as web based pre and tracer channels. For a detailed overview on how to use these facilities + see screenshots, we strongly recommend you read our recent post located here. The site recently went through a domain change and updated web based service URLs can be found below:

Pre and Tracer Channels on Corrupt-Net

Corrupt-Net

Corrupt-Net is a P2P friendly IRC network that houses the official IRC channels of several popular private trackers. In addition, they also maintain separate public channels for Pre and Tracer announces. For a more detailed overview + screenshots of the Corrupt-Net network, please refer to our recent review located here.

Available IRC Channels:

  • #Tracer  – Main Tracer announce channel – notifies whenever a private tracker indexes a new release [Direct Link]
  • #Tracer.search – Search for particular releases, get site rankings and other info [Direct Link]
  • #Tracer.spam –  Announce for spam releases [Direct Link]

Available Web Based Services

Refer to the detailed article about Corrupt-Net network to learn more about Pre and Tracer services.

CN Tracker Shut Down – Here Are Some Alternatives

If you are wondering what’s up with the recent downtime of movie torrent tracker CN, we have some pretty bad news. Apparently, CN has shut down its operations for good and is not coming back. This news may come as a shock for most members since there were no hints of a permanent shut down before the site disappeared off the radar. After having coordinated with CN staff for both IRC and E-Mail recruitment campaigns, we know that a lot of FILEnetworks Blog readers were members of this great movie tracker. In case you are looking for a new home for movie downloads, there are two torrent sites with content similar to CN open right now; PTN and iTS. PTN is a ratio free movie tracker and iTS is another ratioless private torrent site with a lot of unique AFR movie rips. Both these sites are open via invite applications for all users but PTN is having a special promotion for ex-CN members. More details after the jump.

First, the reasons for CN’s shut down. We don’t know of any specific reasons which prompted this decision, apart from what bumrock posted on FileSharingTalk (FST) forums:

For those that have wondered what was going on...The site will not be back. Due to personal, technical, and other unforeseen circumstances the site put on some cement shoes and is now swimming with the fishes.
Thanks to all that have helped it in the past and present!
For those that are not rejoicing, remember that this is simply one aspect of the Internet and fortunately for all of us there are other sites to go around...
From personal experience I would highly recommend iTS, PtN, and goem to fill your movie tracker void. Yes, there are others, but these are ones I am a member of and hope to see you there!
Have a great holiday season! Later!
//bum

There is no doubt that CN will be missed by it’s loyal users. At last check, the site tracked over 12500 movies torrents ranging from DVDR release to BRRips. Apart from content, it was a great community of helpful members and we know from our experience that it had good staff members who knew what they were doing. Indeed, it’s really sad to see this site go.

Previous CN Related Articles on FILEnetworks Blog

CN Alternative – PTN

The ratio free movie torrent tracker PTN is having a special promotion for Ex- CN members. A detailed news post explaining how this process works is quoted below:

It is indeed a sad day when a site as close to PtN as CN was has to close its doors to its members and thus leaving CN members without a place to hang their hat and call home.
But as always, when one door closes, another door opens and it is with open arms and a warm embrace that we should welcome all ex-members of CN to PtN (if they are not already here of course) and it is with great pleasure that we have enabled a quick & easy access path into PtN to make the transition as painless as possible.
1. External Apps are open for 1 extra week, and to make it real easy for any ex-member of CN to join PtN during this phase, then all they have to do is:
Ignore all the questions in the app
Let us know you were a member of CN and provide Proof of CN membership, a jpg, an email - any method works
Don't forget your email
And PtN staff will take care of the rest and send out the invite.

Note that invite applications are currently open for all readers, including non members of CN. Only ex-CN members get the special privilege of getting in without having to answer all questions in the application.

Site Name: PTN
Invite Applications URL: http://*********.***/comeandplay.php (do not use ‘www’ in the address)
Note: Posting of full tracker URL or name is prohibited by PTN rules. We are sorry about the inconvenience.

For a detailed overview of PTN including screenshots, please refer to our recent article located here. On a side note, keep in mind that FILEnetworks PTN invite giveaway No. 02 is coming soon.

CN Alternative – iTS

iTS’ a ratioless tracker that shares a lot of unique content such as AFR (Advanced Filesize Regulation - focuses more on optimal quality while keeping file size as low as possible) movie rips, lossless FLAC rips, a variety of classic collections and of course, other general content including a ton of exclusive uploads made available by the site’s internal encoders.

iTS is a closed community and you can only get in by filling and submitting the online invite application. This process is unique and we strongly recommend you read the ‘How to apply for a iTS invite’ section in our recent article which has a step by step guide on how to do it properly. Good Luck.

The Pirate Society (TPS) BitTorrent Forum Now Open For Registrations

Good news if you are looking to be a part of The Pirate Society (TPS), a file sharing discussion forum with a high focus on BitTorrent. TPS has opened registrations for the first time since their re-launch 10 weeks ago. This is usually a closed community and potential new members are required to go through an IRC interview prior to joining – with open signups, this step is now eliminated. TPS seems to be accepting both power users of BitTorrent as well as newcomers to the field. This site has had its share of problems with a lot of staff changes, domain switchovers, etc and it may not be as popular as it was about a year ago. However, TPS has survived through the turbulent times and it remains to be one of the more active new generation BitTorrent forums out there. There are plenty of invite giveaways, requests, multiple tracker requirement threads, torrent site reviews, seedbox reviews + ratings and a lot more stuff useful to the average BitTorrent user.

The Pirate Society

TPS recently announced open registrations to the world through their blog (which is viewable by general public). Quoted below is a detailed explanation on how the open signups work – this was originally posted at https://www.thepiratesociety.info/blog/?p=1098 :

Announcing to the torrent world that for the first time since we reopened 10 weeks ago, we are opening registration for new members. Here’s a quick rundown on how it works.

You may have known that in the past, TPS took in new members via an IRC interview. This interview was not only time-consuming for prospective members, but also consumed huge amounts of staff time and resources, so we are simplifying the process. If you are interested in joining TPS, just click the “Register” button on the home page. Read the rules and see if TPS is the kind of place you’d like to join, then proceed with the simple application form. After you submit it, a staff member will go over it and with luck you will receive your invite via e-mail. Please be patient – we have been going through a lot of invitations in the queue.

Please note that if you were previously disabled, do not create a dupe account (we will spot you quickly), but go into our IRC help channel (see the home page) and plead your case. If you were disabled because of inactivity, chances are you will get your account back. If you were a “Castaway” because you broke the rules, most likely you won’t be let back in. (sorry)

We especially welcome users who are new to the torrent world and need a helping hand (or two) in getting to know how it all works. The regular members will be happy to assist you. Veteran members of private trackers would also like it here, mingling with fellow established members and tracker staff. (Plus you can help guide the n00bs.) Similarly, tracker staff members are of course welcome at TPS as well.

TPS currently has 9600+ registered members (~1700 active) making it one of the larger ‘closed’ BT forums out there. Member activity is pretty good with over 50000 threads and a little over a half a million posts being made by this seemingly smaller user base. In addition to staying up to date on BitTorrent news you can request private torrent tracker invites, conduct invitation giveaways, read private tracker reviews, get the latest on seedbox services, read tutorials and even get support for your torrent site related problems on TPS. Additionally, they maintain healthy relationships with many private trackers - ~100 community reps and 75+ active official tracker recruitment threads bears witness to this.

TPS Index

As we mentioned earlier, TPS is currently open for registration. You can directly sign up for an account without having to go through an interview. However, you will need to wait until a staff member confirms your new account – this is not automatic and may take some time.

PeerAccess Returns With A New Look And More R5, R2, R1 DVD & Blu Ray Release Dates

A while ago we posted an article about PeerAccess (PA), a file sharing related forum home to P2P release group T0XiC. Despite being the official home of an exclusive movie enocder team, PA was best known amongst the file sharing community for a totally different reason; R5 movie release dates - the site had probably the best maintained R5, R1, R2 DVD and Blu Ray movie release dates on the web. These lists were being updated on a regular basis, with incorrect dates being removed and new entries added. Just when things were going very smoothly, PA ran into some trouble last month and it appears that they had to rebuild the site from scratch. Good news is that PA is now back online, fully functional, with a new look and with all of its favorite features intact.

PeerAccess

The most popular feature on PeerAccess is without a doubt their DVD release dates section. PA has a separate forum section which indexes release dates for DVDs and Blu-Ray disks in region 1, 2, and 5 (R1, R2, R5). So how does knowing a release date help the average pirate? Well, you can pretty much guess *when* a particular movie will leak online, if you know its public DVD release date. These schedules are subject to frequent change due to last minute decisions by publishers. This is one reason why most R5/R1/R2 predictions on the web soon become out of date. However, PA is one of the rare forums I have seen which regularly update its threads to reflect new schedules. This is one reason why we quote from their lists in out monthly R5 update articles such as this one.

PeerAccess Release Dates

In addition to the popular Release Dates section, PeerAccess also contains a BitTorrent tracker invite section, tracker reviews, seedbox reviews, open signup news, torrent reviews, screens and samples from latest movie releases as well as links to new movie trailers. Additionally, PA is the official home of P2P movie release group T0XiC. New site does not contain any exclusive T0XiC encodes just yet but according to a message posted on site, TOXiC RG plans to restart their operations soon.

Recent downtime seems to have reset PA’s user database and the new site is pretty much re built from scratch. Within a couple of days into the (re)launch, there are 200+ threads and 100+ active members registered. Of course, not all of these threads have high activity just yet as the forum is still at the starting stage, but over time and with more members, it could really kick off. For those interested in joining, registrations are currently open.

Etiv & The-Nation Merge, VoiceThe.Net Signups Open

The past few months have not been great for BitTorrent invite and discussion forums – I’ve seen drastic drops in activity on a couple of existing sites and only a few forums seem to have survived from losing members. The latest BitTorrent invite and discussion community to shut down is The Nation (T-N) – however, it’s not as bad as it sounds. Although T-N has closed down, their user base was merged with Etiv just before the closure. It’s actually a way more sensible thing to do than abruptly taking down a site, stranding loyal members (which is what usually happens). That’s not all – there’s even more good news. VoiceThe.Net (VTN), another BT forum in the Etiv network, has decided to open public signups in an attempt to recruit more members. More details about these stories after the jump.

VoiceThe.Net registrations open

VoiceThe.Net

VoiceThe.Net is the sister site of Etiv. While being a fully fledged BitTorrent community in its own right, VTN also serves as a gateway to Etiv since active members from VTN can gain entry to their sister site based on performance and activity. Getting into VTN on the other hand is comparatively easy and the forum caters towards both experienced and novice users of BitTorrent (in other words, it’s not limited to l33t members who are registered on a thousand different torrent sites :p ). Quoted below are features newly added to VTN since our last mention of it on this blog -

  • Our own image host: This is meant to be a one stop shop for members to use to host their images on without having to go off site to do it.
  • P2P Wiki: We now have a full blown wiki  service (vtn/wiki) that will house just about everything p2p related. It's slowly getting filled to the brim with new stuff from tutorials to helpful tips
  • Seedbox Service: There is now a dedicated website (pimpmyseeds.net) that will house our very own seedbox servers.
  • We have also recently upgraded to the newest vbulletin software (4.0.7) so there are a bunch of new themes to go along with that.

For a detailed review of the site including screenshots, we suggest your read our previous article located here. Registrations for VTN are currently open. Use the links below to create an account:

Etiv and The Nation merge

Etiv Forum

Loyal members of The-Nation will no doubt be disappointed with the site’s fate. However, it could have been worse. Full details about the closure were explained in a mass PM sent to all members just before the shut down:

Hello Nation,
I know it’s been a long time since anyone has heard from us unless you come by the irc to see what’s going on but then you still might not have been able to get much of an answer. MKZ has been gone for a while now taking care of his health and might have just moved on from running the forum. Staff have been busy taking care of things in real life.
It’s not that we want T-N to close one bit but we do think it in the best interest to do so. We don’t have the time, money and a few others things needed to run the site properly. So with this happening we will be closing the doors here and merging over to Etiv so that everyone still has a home. There will still be staff from T-N being staff at Etiv and everyone will be moved in to their appropriate rank/user class.
Sorry for not much of a notice but this is just the best thing we can do for our forum. Having our members a home is my main priority.
Sorry for the bad but also good news.
kilo

The merger has without a doubt further strengthened Etiv and boosted its activity – the site currently have close to 900 active members and its one of the more promising BT forums out there. At last check, signups remained closed. Interested members can gain entry into the site by becoming an active member of VTN – see above.

Special thanks to Chris Baslee and Rabbot for the heads up on VTN.

PeerBlock 1.1.0 – Block Suspicious IP Addresses & Secure You P2P Activities Online

Probably all of you have heard about PeerGuardian (PG), the P2P utility program that is able to block incoming connections based on IP blocklists. PG’s blocklists contained IP addresses of known anti piracy agencies, various government entities, spyware oriented servers, etc and the software effectively prevented these addresses from making contact with your BitTorrent client or any other file sharing program. For those very reason, PG was hugely popular among the file sharing community back in its day. However, the program did not have a bright future as its developer discontinued development and moved on to other projects. This is where PeerBlock comes in – it’s an actively maintained fork of PeerGuardian 2 with lots of updates to the core application ( and not just a new list IP addresses). A new stable release of PeerBlock (v1.1.0) was just released yesterday with several new features including signed drivers for Windows 7, direct iBlocklists.com integration and more.

PeerBlock

Usually, this is the kind of an app only computer power users tend to use. However, using PeerBlock is dead simple – even novices should easily be able to figure out how this works. For those of you who are unfamiliar with PB, here’s a brief description of the software, as mentioned on its homepage:

PeerBlock lets you control who your computer "talks to" on the Internet.  By selecting appropriate lists of "known bad" computers, you can block communication with advertising or spyware oriented servers, computers monitoring your p2p activities, computers which have been "hacked", even entire countries!  They can't get in to your computer, and your computer won't try to send them anything either.
And best of all, it's free!

Setting up PeerBlock is easy - you basically need to install it. There is no need to configure your file sharing clients manually to integrate with PB - the program will run in the background and block all incoming or outgoing connections from/to your PC based on its blocklists. It comes with several pre configured block lists, one each containing IP addresses of anti P2P organizations. spyware/adware servers, advertising servers and educational institutions. The client will automatically update these lists online, as updates become available (much like how anti virus software download new definition files). Note that although software such as PeerBlock and PeerGuardian do provide an additional layer of security to your p2p activities, they should not be mistaken for all-in-one magical solutions that will shield you from all kinds snoopers. For example, anti piracy agencies might use IP addresses that are not yet included in PB’s blocklists. Therefore always be on the lookout for prying eyes – don’t let a sense of false security fool you.

TorrentLeech v3 – Bug Fixes & Improvements

Several days ago we featured an article on TL v3, the latest incarnation of the popular private BitTorrent tracker TorrentLeech. In a massive upgrade to the site, TL just about changed the whole user experience with a brand new visual style and a lot of under the hood tweaks. As it usually happens with new designs, not all of TLs’ users were pleased with the changes. While it’s impossible to satisfy everyone, there indeed were some nagging issues highlighted even by the site’s most loyal members, which were widely discussed on BitTorrent forums and blogs. Good news here is that TorrentLeech administrations seems to be listening to what their users have to say – in a latest round of bug fixes, they have addressed a number of commonly reported issues along with some usability improvements such as new category icons.

TorrentLeech v3

An official announcement of the recently implemented changes is quoted below (this was originally posted on TL homepage):

Bug Fixes and Updates

We just made several changes to our source code, fixing a few bugs and making some changes requested by many people including the following:
1) By popular demand, we added more category icons, one for each category (We thank TaeKz for this  )
2) We fixed a few bugs with Internet Explorer. The filter and category buttons on the Browse page should be functional now. If they still don't work for you, please refresh your page or delete your browser's cache so that you get the updated files from our servers.
3) We added a sort by date button next to the bookmarks button that appears when a search is active, so that you have the option to sort the results by date or score

With the addition of a sort by date option, consistency returns to TL search results. Their new search algorithm appeared to be ordering results by relevancy, which meant newer releases did not come on top. This wasn’t how it worked in the old codebase and those who wanted to find latest releases for a particular term were left disappointed. The new ‘Sort By Date’ button solves this issue and gives you even more flexibility in how results need to be displayed.

But that’s not all – another nagging issue with the category icons has been fixed. There were many complaints earlier on about new category icons all looking similar to one another – for example, BRRip, DVDRip, R5 and TS releases had the same icon and it was not easy to distinguish between them without reading the full torrent name. Thankfully, this has now been resolved with the addition of new icons, as you may see in the screenshot below:

TL Torrent Categories

A list of things yet to be fixed/in progress of being fixed was also listed by one of the site’s owners. Quoted below is an update by quark:

I have been receiving hundreds of PMs with "problems" that we gave instructions from Day One.
1) First of all. I will say it once more: Invitations and Signups are disabled temporarily. We will inform you when they are going to be available next week.
2) Secondly. If you feel that some aspects of the site are not working for you, then you are probably using Internet Explorer. Stop complaining and get a real browser like Firefox, Chrome or Safari. We said from day one that Internet Explorer does not work well. We will fix things in time, but not today, nor tomorrow.
3) RSS feeds will be available shortly after we finish some tests we run.
4) The Help button does not work, not because it is a bug, but because this section is being prepared. We will include documentation for all features of the site, including advanced options for the search engine.
We ask for your patience during this time, as it is a difficult transition for us, and our hands are full. We would like for you at this time, only to report problems and bugs, and don't waste our time with complaints about changes. Give us 2 weeks to stabilize the servers performance and fix the last bugs, and we will start making changes again and improvements according to your wishes.

For a site the size of TL and the nature of v3 upgrade, this is indeed a major transition (for a detailed account of TL v3 features and screenshots, please refer to this article). And honestly, the site looks and behaves much better since its initial rollout several days ago. Expect more bugs and glitches to be fixed in the coming days, and for those who still aren’t members of the tracker, we may have good news once their signup and invite system comes back online (we cannot confirm anything just yet). Stay tuned.

TorrentLeech v3 – New Look, New Features, More Speed

This is probably old news by now but we simply can’t ignore the fact that TorrentLeech went through it’s most significant upgrade since the trackers’ birth. TorrentLeech (aka TL), considered as the king of private torrent sites by many veteran torrenters, launched the third major revision of its tracker and web interface last night. TL v3 is a massive upgrade over the previous codebase and it’s been created from scratch by TL’s dedicated developer team. According to w00t, a TL SysOp, v3 was in development for more than a year – was the wait worth it? Hell yes. There are a number of noticeable enhancements in the new version, including many changes to visual features as well as under the hood changes that result in improved site speed, faster navigation and overall site efficiency.

TorrentLeech Logo

First thing I noticed with TL v3 was their new slogan. TorrentLeech, which carried the tagline ‘Not Here, Not Scene’ for many years has now changed it to ‘This is what happens when you seed’. Even the logo appears to have changed. But these are probably the least important of recently implemented changes. Although this post does not aim to be a full review of TL v3, mentioned below are some of the highlights of this release, just to give an understanding about the scope of the upgrade:

  • Completely new, polished looking visual layout based on a new codebase
  • Revamped search engine which delivers more accurate search results, along with enhancements such as results filtering, filename searching and support for searchable, user customizable torrent tags.
  • Enhanced torrent Browsing with browse by category & browse by tags options. Supports filtering by Tags, Categories, Size and Uploaded Date.
  • Automatic IMDB discovery and automatic IMDB information retrieval (including cover image and adding genres as tags for the torrent) for movie and TV torrents.
  • New torrent description page with a tabbed layout. All available information about a particular torrent is now organized into 5 tabs; Torrent Info, NFO, Comments, Gallery and Files.
  • New invitation system and invite signup process. Invitations can be sent and tracked through the Invitations Tab in the user profile.
  • Speed improvements – browsing, site functions, searches and navigation are now notably faster.
  • Revamped torrent bookmarking feature.
  • Enhancements to in-site PM and messaging system – this is still a work in progress.
  • Plus many more

Added below are several screenshots showcasing some of the new features and visual features introduced in TL v3:

TorrentLeech Filters and categories
New search and browse options with category and tag filtering.

TorrentLeech torrent description
New torrent description page -  tabbed structured makes it easier to locate the information you need.

TorrentLeech Index
TorrentLeech main index with some of the new category icons.

The only drawback I found in TL v3 was with the category icons. They seemed a little too similar to each other – the old icons were easily distinguishable and it was easy to spot certain types of releases instantly on the main index. Either way this issue will hopefully resolve itself as members get used to the look and feel of the new icon set.

Note that TL v3 is still in its beta phase. Like any other web development project, it’s bound to have undiscovered bugs and glitches at this stage. There are many fixes still being deployed and during the first 48-72 hours since v3 launch, TL will only be open to power users and VIP members. Any other member trying to log in at this point will get invalid username/password errors.

Additionally, make sure to update your bookmarks. If you had bookmarked an internal page instead of the TL homepage (for example the torrent browse page - http://www.torrentleech.org/browse.php ), there is a high likelihood this link will return page not found errors. Pages ending with .php are gone – either change your bookmarks to direct to TL homepage or update them with the correct internal page URL.

After having featured more than 10 TorrentLeech invitation giveaways as well as two mass invite campaigns on this blog, we have reasons to believe most of our readership are already members of this tracker. If you still aren’t in TL, don’t lose hope – while the site is currently closed for registrations, there will most likely be mass invite campaigns and IRC giveaways in future (although we don’t exactly know when). If any such event occurs we will be updating this blog as usual– stay tuned.

TopTBDev – Private Tracker Reviews, Invites, Userbars, Discussions & More

If you’ve been reading this blog for long, you probably have heard about TBDEV. TBDEV is a BitTorrent tracker script that is hugely popular – it’s a fully customizable codebase that’s still in widespread use. Although we have often heard about trackers being built on TBDEV, have you ever heard of a BitTorrent invite/discussion forum and a private torrent site rating system built on this codebase? TopTBDev is one such site – it’s primarily a private tracker ratings and rankings board along with BitTorrent related discussion threads, invite giveaways, requests, tutorials, users bars and even details of torrent packs on various sites. In addition, it has highly detailed tracker descriptions complete with screenshots from all areas of particular a site. TopTBDev is currently open for signup and is accepting new members.

TopTBDev

At a glance, TopTBDev looks just like another private tracker – its signup page and the main index will look familiar to anyone who’s used a TBDev based private tracker before. However, instead of the regular ‘Browse’ page, TopTBDev has a ‘Trackers’ button. This takes you to the main index which is a list of trackers sorted by its rating. Clicking on one of these opens a detailed description page, which pretty much contains everything from screenshots to IRC channel details and signup status of a particular tracker. It must be said that included screenshots are highly detailed – you can actually view all parts of a site without joining. Users are allowed to rate and comment about trackers of their choice – comments about a particular site are well organized and easily accessible. Note that TopTBDev appears to index all sites, including trackers that do not prefer publicity.

Then there’s the forum. TopTBDev’s forum has almost all features  you’d usually find on a regular BitTorrent discussion forum. There are invite giveaways, requests, tracker discussions, torrent site userbars, discussions of packs on various trackers, and even a ‘torrent finder’ where you can ask community help to locate a torrent you are looking for. It’s not the most active forum on the planet but it isn’t an isolated ghost town either.

Signups for TopTBDev are currently open. If you are looking to be part of a different kind of BitTorrent forum, check this site out.

Private Trackers Warn About SeedNation, Service Shuts Down

A couple of days ago, there was this whole hype about SeedNation, a new Seedbox provider. Apart from offering the usual services, Seednation was providing some 600 odd boxes absolutely for free. The offer was very attractive and it immediately got publicity from several BitTorrent forums and blogs, driving a lot of traffic which was a very important factor for any new online service. We too got several E-mails requesting us to post an article about Seednation - these mails appeared to be from fans of the service, but we believe at least one of them was sent by a Seednation staff member. Either way we postponed publishing about it until we verified the service was legit. For us, this simply seemed to be too good to be true, and apparently, it wasn't just us who had similar thoughts. Several private trackers soon issued warnings about Seed Nation, raising security and privacy concerns. Quoted below is one such Mass PM sent by BitMe’s administration (BitMe is a well respected E-Learning tracker that is over 5 years old).

A site, http://www.seednation.net/ has come up and they are offering something that is literally too good to be true. A free seedbox. Here is the bad news boys and girls, with such things, if it sounds too good to be true, it generally is.
So far, I have seen reports of stolen passkeys, stolen accounts, stolen invites and the like. I can’t tell you what to do or don’t do, however, if you find your passkey or the like is stolen you will receive zero sympathy from staff for this.
So what is the point of this mass PM. Simply this, you use this exceptionally dodgy site at your own risk, and if you have been found to have been compromised, after you have received this warning (25/10/2010 at 20:15 GMT) you will have lost your account here. There will be no exceptions, there will be no.. “Oh I’m sorry I didn’t know.” Use this site at your own peril, but be aware that if your passkey or otherwise is found to have been compromised your account WILL be disabled, and any other private trackers you are on will probably toss you as well.
You have been warned.

BitMe wasn’t the only site to issue such warnings – a similar message was also seen on BitMeTV and a few other trackers. Either way, in a rather unsurprising turn of events, SeedNation soon shut down. For a brief period of time, their homepage displayed the following message:

SeedNation is closed. SLDKluster / Dhruv are the same person. He also was behind the scam of Leechbox. Seednation is now closed. If you where a member of SeedNation or had a seedbox, please join the IRC server to get your seedbox. The host / sponsor of seednation is now the owner of the domain, and has opened a case agaianst him. The old staff members foxhound, p, and d4rk have started #seedmasters, which will provide seedboxs on gigabit boxs legit. But not for free. It will be for people who purchase VIP.
or IRC: irc.digitalrebels.org #seedmasters
Come Hangout, and get your seedbox today! or come join and find out how you can get yours free!
Know linux? Know seedboxs? Become staff & get paid! Join IRC!

Seednation homepage, http://www.seednation.net/ appears to be down right now. While the new service may actually be legit, the whole SeedNation fiasco will no doubt be a public relations disaster for its owners. In the meantime, if you were a user of SeedNation’s free seedbox service, you might want to change your tracker passwords and reset passkeys just to be on the safe side.
