SyncTheBits (StB) Now On Gazelle – Signups Open

A long awaited change has finally happened over at SyncTheBits (StB), a leading private torrent tracker for mobile, smartphone content. StB has gone through a complete site overhaul and staff have now launched the next major revision of the tracker. This new milestone (dubbed StB v2) introduces many new features, add-ons and enhancements including advanced search, a new bonus system, streamlined user interface, a more organized torrent index, faster navigation and many other smaller tweaks. StB now runs on a customized version of Gazelle source making it the first specialized mobile tracker to utilize this popular codebase. In celebration of StB v2 public launch, signups have been opened on this otherwise invite-only private community.

Good news about the Gazelle migration is that StB staff have managed to do it without any data loss. All the torrents are in tact and the tracker is functioning as it should. User accounts however seem to require manual input for them to be migrated – this is a one time process and can easily be done through the automatic migration tool available at http://www.syncthebits.com/stb_migration.php (this applies to existing members only – new users who signup today are not required to do this).

At the time of writing StB had 2400+ active users and ~4000 torrents in its index, making it probably the largest specialized mobile tracker in existence. As we highlighted in a previous post, you can find on this site applications, games, themes, mobile optimized movies, ebooks, etc for a number of different mobile platforms including iPhone, Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile, Palm, PSP, Java, BlackBerry and more. Thanks to the user friendly search and organization features provided by Gazelle, discovering goodies for your mobile should now be easier.

Another new feature introduced with the launch of StB v2 is the ‘Store’. Through the store you are able to purchase invites & upload credit in exchange for bonus points (earned by seeding torrents), gift your points to friends and convert excess invites back to bonus points. You can even gamble away your credits by playing Blackjack solo or against other players.

BitTorrent trackers that focus solely on mobile content are a rare find in the BitTorrent community. SyncTheBits, PYM (down), PMTorrents, PodTropolis, JAF are some of the leading trackers in this niche but we really haven’t seen any new mobile oriented trackers being launched in the recent past. This is quite surprising, given the huge popularity gained by iPhone, Windows Mobile, Java, Symbian and other mobile platforms that are in widespread use today. There’s no secret as to what’s indexed at Mobile.us – from iPhone apps to operator logos this site has a wide range of games, software and themes designed for a number of different mobile platforms including Android, Blackberry, iPhone, Java, Symbian, Palm and several others. But that’s not all, this tracker even indexes mobile optimized movies – these are specially re-encoded (say for example into 3GP format) media which can easily be played back on mobile devices, without having to install additional codecs or players. While a promising tracker, Mobile.us has been plagued by downtime issues. In fact, this is the main reason why it was not featured on this blog sooner – the site was offline more often than it was online. Thankfully, these issues seem to have resolved by now – and let’s hope the site would stay up for a long time to come.

If you are on the lookout for private torrent trackers with content for mobile devices, one of the best sites catering this niche just opened signups. SyncTheBits’s (aka StB), latest open registration period comes almost 10 months since the last. StB tracks applications, games, themes, mobile optimized movies, ebooks, etc for a number of mobile platforms including iPhone, Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile, Palm, PSP, Java, BlackBerry and more. It has been a while since we have opened the doors and I had planned not to open the doors until we made the move over to gazelle but we have decided to open the doors for a short period of time.

Best thing about this tracker is that it has been keeping up to date with the technology. For example back when StB launched, there was no Android and iPhone was not as popular. But by now StB has added new categories, new torrents and new media for these platforms and is one of the very few torrent trackers that index such content. It has also helped debunk the myth ‘mobile trackers can’t be successful - they can’t compete with DDL forums out there’

As of now there are 3400+ registered users on StB and it indexes over 3200 torrents. However, there are some torrents without seeds and the site definitely needs more leechers. Hopefully the current open signup will attract new blood and boost the activity of this great tracker.

Pimp Your Mobile – Torrent Tracker For 3GP Movies, Symbian/iPhone/Android Appz & More

Although there’ve been a lot of BitTorrent trackers popping up in the past couple of years, specialized mobile content trackers have always been a rarity. Out of the few such such that exist, Pimp Your Mobile (PyM) is one of the oldest trackers catering this niche. We first mentioned about PyM back in 2008 and the site has come a long way since then.They now have a better interface, have gone ratio free and more importantly, have better content. You can download applications, games, themes, ringtones, mobile optimized media and other stuff for your Symbian, Nokia S40, Java, Windows Mobile or Android powered mobile device or even for the Apple iPhone, BlackBerry devices and PDAs.

Over the past few years, PyM has gradually improved both its user base and torrent index. The site tracks over 3200 torrents (as of 20/1/2010) and has a user base of 2300+ registered members. Visually, this tracker has improved a lot since our last mention of PyM here – It’s nothing too fancy and runs on a TS special edition script but the layout is better organized, cleaner and has less clutter.

As for the content it’s all about downloads for various mobile platforms that exist. From cracked applications to latest movies in mobile compatible formats, you’ll find them all here. For example, PyM tracks a lot of re-encoded movies in .3GP format. This is useful for Nokia phone owners who have RealPlayer installed as their default media player. Most versions of RealPlayer do not come with XViD/DivX support; if you are to play XViD files on your phone, conversion to compatible format is always needed beforehand (which can sometimes take up a lot of time). 3GP or .Mp4 files are mobile friendly and will play on most modern devices just fine. It’s not only movies you’ll find on PyM – there are lots of applications, games, themes and other goodies than can be used to jazz up your mobile. Most of the torrents seem to be P2P uploads. As we mentioned in the first paragraph this is a ratio free tracker. It’s probably the first specialized mobile tracker to go no-ratio. A notice visible on the top toolbar says:

There is also a bonus system present on site, through which you can exchange bonus points (mostly obtained by seeding) for invites and upload credit.

PM Torrents – TV, movie & other video downloads for iPHONE, iPOD, ZUNE, PDA

Portable Media Torrents (or PMTorrents) is a private torrent tracker that specializes in applications, games and video (movies and TV shows) for mobile devices. If you are the owner of a portable device such as Zune, iPod/iPod touch, PSP or a PDA, chances are that you’ll find some useful downloads on PMTorrents. This is a relatively new tracker that started out a few months ago but it has already acquired a reasonable userbase of several thousand members.

As of 26/2/2009, PMTorrents has an active user base of 5250+ members and tracks close to 500 torrents. Apart from few applications and games for various mobile devices, PMTorrents has a good collection of movies and TV episodes. All video files on this tracker are mobile optimized – they’ve been re-encoded to better support playback on portable devices (most of the movies, TV shows and documentaries are in MP4 format). I was able to find re-encoded versions of even some of the newest movie releases.

Note that even though PMTorrents have their own BitTorrent tracker, some of the indexed torrents are tracked by a (public?) tracker run by RARBG. These seem to be the same torrents that are indexed on PODTROPOLIS and such releases usually have hundreds of seeders/leechers.

Currently the site is open for public signups. If you own a mobile device and are looking for mobile optimizes videos, PMTorrents is a good place to start your search.

Podtropolis is a public BitTorrent index and a tracker which specializes in iPod optimized media. You can find thousands of iPod ready movies, music and TV shows on Podtropolis and download them for free using a BT client. This tracker is created and maintained by the same folks behind ISOhunt so you know you are in good hands.

Podtropolis do have their own BitTorrent tracker but torrents tracked by external trackers such as Demonoid and rarbg are also indexed. You don’t need to register to download from any of these trackers. As for the content, almost every movie, TV show and music video on this tracker is optimized to be played in Apple’s iPod devices. The content on Podtropolis is huge and it ranges from old movies to latest TV show episode releases.

If you own an iPod, Podtropolis is a must have tracker. It’s not a private site so you are free to download without registration whenever you want. Registration will however allow you to post in the forums which are pretty active and as awesome as the tracker itself.

Yesterday we talked about sites to obtain cracked mobile software, full games and other media. When it comes to that, SyncTheBits (StB) is one of the best sites around. It’s a private torrent tracker which is dedicated to mobile content. Signups are closed for the most part but they are currently open for 24 hours so if you were planning to get in, now would be a good time. There is a note about open signups on site homepage:

JAF Torrent Tracker – Download Mobile Software, Service Manuals, Unlockers and Flashing Tools

One several occasions before, we’ve featured dedicated mobile content trackers such as Syncthebits (Closed), Mobile Club (Open) and Pimp Your Mobile (Open). JAF Torrent Tracker (torrent.virtualplace.ro) is another private tracker that specializes in mobile content. It however tracks somewhat different content that the sites previously mentioned. While sites such as StB track a lot of mobile appz, games and ringtones for a number of mobile platforms, JAF Torrent Tracker mainly tracks flashing tools, unlockers, service manuals, schematics, actual software that controls mobile phones and so on. It does have a few game packs and general software for mobiles but the majority of the site’s content comprise of technical stuff such as the ones displayed in the screenshot below:

JAF Torrent Tracker is an excellent resource for enthusiasts seeking in depth technical details on mobiles as well as for those interested in software flashing, hacking, unlocking and experimenting with their mobiles. There are currently oveer 10000 users and close to 1500 torrents on this tracker. JAF is currently open for signups so go check it out.

Mobile Club – New mobile Appz tracker

In out previous Private Tracker Watch posts, we’ve posted about two dedicated mobile appz trackers; SynctheBits (StB)[Signups Open] and Pimp Your Mobile [Signups Open]. Here is another addition to that list of mobile trackers. Mobile Club is a brand new tracker that specializes in mobile content such as appz, themes, games and ringtones. From what we know this tracker is from the guys who were behind SceneLinks.Ro so you can expect good things.

As said above this tracker is only 1 day old. There are already close to 150 members on this tracker. Currently there are only 8 torrents most of them seem to be packs.

The number of torrents will surely increase as the days progress. Another nice feature we found was that under every torrent, compatible phone models are listed; this should definitely make it easier to find compatible appz and games for specific mobile device models.

Here is a second chance for the users who missed the previous 24 hour open signup. SynctheBits is a private torrent tracker specializing in mobile content. It indexes all sorts of mobile stuff including games, appz and even e-books for a wide range of mobile platforms. The platforms include Symbian, J2ME, Windows Mobile, iPhone, PalmOS, Nintendo DS, PSP, Blackberry etc.

There are currently 800+ users and 375+ torrents on this tracker. Apart from usual scene releases by groups such as BinPDA and rgPDA, StB have their own unique content such as 'StB Packs' and some apps and games not released by the scene.

Private Tracker Watch: 'Pimp Your Mobile' signups open - Torrent tracker for mobile appz, games and ringtones

Yesterday we posted about StB which is a new mobile appz and games tracker. This post is about another similar tracker specializing in mobile stuff. Pimp Your Mobile is a private torrent tracker which tracks a lot of games, appz, ringtones and other mobile content for a number of different mobile platforms such as SymbianOS, J2ME, Nokia S40 and Windows Mobile. Currently there are over 1100 active users and over 350 torrents on this tracker.

We don't know for how long the signups will stay open so get in while you can.

SyncTheBits (StB) is a new private tracker specializing in mobile content. It indexes all sorts of mobile stuff including games, appz and even e-books for a wide range of mobile platforms. The platforms include Symbian, J2ME, Windows Mobile, iPhone, PalmOS, Nintendo DS, PSP, Blackberry etc. Mark our words, this one shows all signs of becoming one of the most sought after trackers in the future.

As mentioned earlier StB is quite new and is only a few days old. It was in beta test mode for a while too. Currently it has 150+ members and tracks over 200 torrents (at time of this post). They index scene releases as well as torrents unique to StB. Already there is a good number of StB packs uploaded and there will surely be a lot more to come in the future.

Private Tracker Watch: iPODTVNova signups open - For mobile optimized audio and video torrents

Here is another specialized tracker coming back online and opening signups for all users. iPODTVNova is a private torrent tracker specializing in mobile optimized content. The site tracks a lot of movies and television shows, all re encoded to have smaller file sizes with optimal resolutions for viewing in mobile devices such as the Apple iPOD. Not only was I able to find newest scene released content (re-encodes of course) but I was able to find some of the rare to find older movies as well. Although it is not clear how many users are on the site, most of the torrents are well seeded. iPODTVNova tracks 1392 torrents as of time of this post.
