A demo version of Valve’s highly anticipated multiplayer co-operative zombie shooter Left 4 Dead has leaked to BitTorrent networks roughly 4 days before official release. Initially a Russian version of the game was leaked and as far as we know, the leak originated from the Russian private torrent tracker Torrents.Ru. Another popular private torrent tracker is now tracking an English version of the game. The torrent has the following note in the release .NFO:
If you have the game in English language, and you want to play in Russian, then create a *. reg file to read:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Valve \ Steam]
"Language" = "russian"
Then, run this file to apply changes to the roster.
Those who want to play in English, respectively, replace "russian" in a file on "english".
Judging from the above, it looks more like a language changed version of the torrent which initially leaked on Torrents.Ru. Whatever the source is, it’s a fully working and playable English version of the Left 4 Dead Demo (Update: Several people have reported Russian audio ingame even in English version.). This should definitely be welcome news for those who tried the Early Demo access without pre order hack and did not receive a code yet.
