Some of our readers may already be familiar with the name PackMe.In (aka PiN aka ‘The Donkey’). PiN is an innovative new private torrent tracker that launched back in July 2009. It’s a ratio free site that tracks only torrent packs (collections of related torrents). Lots of questions were raised when PiN came into being; Can a packs-only tracker have enough content? Can it attract enough users? Can it maintain torrent health in a ratio free environment? Now, after less than 6 months since launch, it looks like PiN has answered the skeptics. Not only has the site survived but it has added more than 750 torrent packs in a short span of time. Even more good news is that they’ve opened signups to celebrate the new year – if you were looking forward to get in, here’s another chance.
Torrent packs are nowadays found on almost every general tracker. They’ve become a ‘value added feature’ of private torrent sites and on trackers such as TorrentLeech packs are among the most downloaded releases, which is a great example of their popularity. PackMe.In however is different from other torrent sites – while others index packs as bonus content, PiN is made out of them. In short, you will only find torrent collections on ‘The Donkey’.
After about 6 months since public launch, PiN now tracks over 750 torrent packs. This includes movie packs, software packs, e-book packs, games packs and so on. Some of these are pretty huge torrents weighing over 50GB in file size. Number of registered users on PiN currently hovers somewhere around the 3000 mark. Current open signup is aimed at raising this number to ~5000.
PiN runs on a heavily customized TBDEV tracker script and has a friendly user interface. Every aspect of the site from toolbar label names to user classes go hand in hand with the ‘donkey’ theme and it’s actually very cleverly designed. If you for some reason do not like the default look and feel, check out the two new themes that are added.
And did we mention that PackMe.In is a ratio free tracker? You do not have to keep up with the usual minimum global upload:download ratio requirements found on most private trackers. However Hit and Run (HnR) is prohibited :
Do not hit and run. You must seed or leech a torrent a total of 7 days within 21 or to a 1 ratio. Regular hit and running will result in the disabling of your account.
And like on most ratio free trackers, there’s a bonus credits system present on ‘The Donkey’. These are called Pack Points (PP) and you can primarily earn PP by seeding torrents. Once you have enough points, you can exchange them in ‘The donkey shop’ for new user classes (you start out as a Donkey and then progress to become a JackAss, FatAss, DumbAss and so on), avatars, etc.
Anyways back to open signups. PiN is usually a closed site but they’ve opened doors for a limited time in celebration of the new year. Following is quoted from site homepage:
2010-01-01
Happy new year! To celebrate we've opened signups! The url is https://packme.in/oya.php (same as last time). Be sure to tell your friends because once we get around 5000 active users we'll be closing for awhile.
EDIT: There was a problems with the signups but we fixed it. Sorry for the confusion.
More surprises await, just taking a little longer than anticipated.

Open signups will most likely continue till the user count reaches 5000. That leaves around 2000 free spots left – go ahead and check it out.
