If you’ve been downloading videos from social video sites using 3rd party tools like Orbit Downloader, you’ll notice that the extension of the saved file on your hard disk is .flv. FLV or Flash Video has become quite popular with popular services such as YouTube, Google Video and Yahoo! Video beginning to use this format. Unfortunately, some versions of Windows Media Player does not support FLV playback by default. This is where PlayFLV comes in.
PlayFLV installs the required codec in FFDShow that supports FLV playback. It also associates .flv file format with Windows Media Player so that double clicking a FLV file opens it with WMP by default.
Features of PlayFLV 2 :
- Plugin that enables Windows Media Player to playback FLV files
- Features all default functions, such as zooming, skipping and full screen view
- Creates file association: Double-click FLV files to play them in Windows Media Player
- Free and open source
