As you all now know, SceneTorrents is no more. The veteran private torrent tracker that was a favorite among many torrenters (for over 4 years), shut down for good due to a number of different reasons including legal issues. While the loss of ScT indeed shook the BitTorrent community, it’s impact was somewhat minimized thanks to a number of other trackers coming forth to help ex- ScT members. SCC, another highly respected scene tracker that rivaled ScT in many aspects, was among those sites that offered help. Lots of former SceneTorrents members took refuge in SCC and hopefully, the script featured in this post will help them feel right at home.
What ‘SCC-ScT Conversion Beta’ does is that it changes the look and feel of SCC interface to resemble the default theme of SceneTorrents. While SCC itself has an excellent user friendly interface, some ex- ScT users will not doubt prefer to browse with the familiar light blue layout of ScT. Not only the background color but the top toolbar, logo and even category icons will be changed once the script is run. Screenshot below shows SCC interface after changes are applied:
Note that running ‘SCC-ScT Conversion Beta’ will not breach any tracker rules. Changes are all made client side and only the visual theme is altered. In short, it won’t bring ScT back from the dead but it will definitely inject some familiarity to an equally good tracker, SCC. And of course, you don’t have to be an ex-ScT member to run this – it will work for all existing SCC members.
How to install and use
SCC-ScT Conversion Beta’ is available for both Mozilla FireFox and Google Chrome browsers.
For FireFox:
- Download GreaseMonkey add-on for FireFox from here and install it.
- Download Stylish add-on for FireFox from here and install it.
- Restart FireFox.
- Visit the SCC-ScT Conversion Beta page on UserScripts and hit ‘Install Now’ button.
- Visit SCC now and see the difference :)
To uninstall the script, go to Tools-> GreaseMonkey –> Manage User Scripts, select the ‘SCC-SCT Conversion’ from left panel and hit the uninstall button. Additionally, you can remove the GreaseMonkey and Stylish addons from FireFox.
For Google Chrome:
- Download ‘SCC-ScT Conversion Beta’ Google Chrome extension from here and install it.
To uninstall, simply remove the extension from Google Chrome.
