The Pirate Society (TPS) – BitTorrent news, private tracker invites, reviews & recruitment

If you’ve been a regular visitor of FILEnetworks Blog, you know that we post about private torrent trackers quite frequently. This post, although related to BitTorrent, is not about a private tracker. It’s about ‘The Pirate Society’ - a forum dedicated to discussing BitTorrent and other forms of file sharing. TPS, started back in July 2008, has quickly grown on to become one of the more active BitTorrent communities that are around.

In addition to staying up to date on BitTorrent news you can request private torrent tracker invites, conduct invitation giveaways, read private tracker reviews, get the latest on seedbox services, read tutorials and even get support for your torrent site related problems on TPS. I’ve been a member of this site for quite some time and got to say that it’s been great so far. TPS is a friendly community where noobs don't get bashed, flaming is almost non existent and the staff is helpful. It’s a pretty active forum with close to 2500 members (as of 2/1/2009).

One thing I have noticed on The Pirate Society is that it has a large number of community reps on board. Community reps are official representatives of private trackers who engage in member recruitment, offer tracker specific support, etc. Speaking of recruitment, TPS has tons of tracker recruitment threads. These are run by community reps seeking potential good members for their trackers. Currently such threads for PTFiles, Electr*nik, AL, Learnbits, ScL (Clover), VIPMusic, TorretTiT, Czone, Cinematik, PTN, FTM, ToxicT, Fux0r, 3SP, S-I, LzTr, Wunza and CT can be found on TPS.

invite giveaways

There is also an active invitation giveaway section on TPS where existing members give away private tracker invites for free. An invite requests section is also present but don’t expect to get a free ScT invite on your first post – help others, build your reputation and the invites will come to you automatically. Check the list of ‘no movement trackers’ on TPS as well – requesting or giving away invites to trackers in this list are not allowed.

The Pirate Society is usually a closed community – entry is only available with an invitation. However at time of this post, TPS has open registration which means everyone is free to join. Check it out.

When registrations are closed, you need to pass the IRC interview (questions based on file sharing) to get into TPS. The invites channel can be found on irc://irc.p2p-network.net/thepiratesociety-invites (Download mIRC from here).
