ArenaBG shut down?

Readers of our Private Trackers section should know the name ArenaBG well. For those who don’t know what it is, it’s a ratio free general private torrent tracker with more than 100000 users and over 30000 torrents (You can read more about this tracker in this post.).

Anyway ArenaBG seems to have run into some trouble. The site’s interface loads fine but the following message is displayed when users try to access the torrents.php page where all the torrents are usually indexed and displayed.

Dear users,
This webpage was removed from our web site. The reason is in next e-mail: =============================================================================
Dear customer,
We have been notified that the website "www.arenabg.com" which is hosted on your system contains intellectual property right infringements. (or the site makes that possible in some way)
In a recent court case, LeaseWeb was ordered to take down such sites, LeaseWeb therefore has no choice but to obey the court order and take down sites that list bittorrent files. The requestor has also demanded we hand over your name and address, we are currently getting legal advice to see if we are obliged to do that.
We hereby kindly request you to take down the website mentioned above within 48 hours. Failure to do so will result in a direct ending of contract and services provided by LeaseWeb.
Kind regards,
==============================================================================
Sincerely yours,
The ArenaBG Team

In addition to the inaccessible torrents.php page, ArenaBG’s bittorrent tracker seems to be down at the moment as well. ArenaBG used to have several backup domains and URLs (http://www.lulinbay.com/, http://www.videopre.net/, http://www.videopre.com/, http://www.arenabg.ws/, http://arenabg2.com/) but none of these are working as of yet. Not very good news indeed.

It looks as if Leaseweb was once again pressured by some anti piracy agency to remove the torrent site. Leaseweb, which was once a safe heaven for torrents sites, was forced to terminate services for several trackers including Demonoid after they lost a court case back in 2007. Some sites shut down while the others simply relocated in different countries or moved to a different host and came back online. Let’s hope that ArenaBG will live to fight another day and come back online soon. Stay tuned as we will update you if we receive any good news in this regard.

In the meantime, check out our private trackers section to find possible alternatives to ArenaBG.
