What.CD Users No Longer Disabled For Low Ratio

Popular music torrent tracker What.cd has been experimenting with their ratio system lately. After a major overhaul of the said system last January, What has now gone in an implemented yet another change – it’s users are no longer disabled even if they fail to keep up with the site’s ratio requirements. The new changes relax the rules on ratio and should help users who are struggling to keep up with the site’s upload:download requirements. However, that doesn’t mean members are now allowed to hit and or to not care about their global ratio at all – those who engage in these bad practices will still face consequences as explained the following announcement from site staff:

New ratio policy

Now that you're all buffered up, we have another piece of news - we will no longer be disabling accounts for low ratio. Instead, if you are unable to get your ratio above your required ratio after two weeks of ratio watch, your leeching privileges will be revoked until your ratio is above the 0% seeded requirement for your downloaded amount. Your leeching privileges will be automatically given back when that requirement is met.
We will, however, continue to automatically disable accounts which download over 10GB while on ratio watch.

It still should be great news for folks who are having issues with low ratio. The tracker has become more forgiving and now seems to offer users a chance to correct themselves before getting dumped from the site at once.

How to get into What.CD

If you still aren’t a member of What.CD, this article would have been of little or no use to you. Although we cannot give away What invites like some other sites due to rules, it’s not an impossible tracker to get into. One of the safest and most reliable means to obtain a free invite is via their IRC interview. If you didn’t know already, What.CD engages in IRC recruitment and there’s even an official ‘interview prep’ site online. On the downside, there a lot you need to know in order to pass the interview. For a step by step guide on how to get to the interview channel, how to prepare for it, etc please read our article “Free What.CD invite via IRC interview – How to get in”.
