There are over 1000 private torrent trackers in existence but how many of them can actually brag about being online for 5+ years? Well, here’s one tracker that sure can. In case you are hearing about AL for the first time, this is a private torrent tracker which indexes all sorts of content including movies, games, music, TV shows and more.

It’s only been a month since we last posted a detailed review of ACiD on this very same blog so it’d be redundant to repeat the same information here. For a detailed overview of this tracker including screenshots, please refer to this article. At last check, AL had 20000+ registered members and tracked 12000+ active torrents which are quite decent statistics for a General/0Day site.

Coming back to the sign up party, we’ve been sent a special invite key by AL staff to give away to our readers – this key will support up to 2000 new registrations so there should be plenty of room for everyone.

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 RTM Leaked On Torrent Sites

After having used almost every Microsoft Operating System since MS-DOS, I’ve to say that Windows 7 is the best Microsoft OS to be released since Windows 98 Second Edition. W7 addressed many flaws that were present in its predecessor Windows Vista and according to Microsoft it was a phenomenal success in terms of sales as well. Anyways here’s some news that might interest you if you are one of the millions running Windows 7 on your PC or Laptop - A Release To Manufacturing (RTM) build of the first Service Pack (SP1) for Windows 7 has reportedly been leaked online. The files, which were initially posted by Russian release site WZOR, are now out in the wild and readily available on various file sharing networks including public BitTorrent sites and private torrent trackers.

Quoted below is the NFO file from one such torrent (this appeared to be a repacked version of files originally posted on WZOR):

Note: This is not a full install, this is just an upgrade only. It contains x86 / x64 . This Service Pack can be applied to any version of Windows 7. All you need is to run the update kit. Please uninstall all the previous versions before installing this!

Thanks goes to: Misaki for providing the SP1 files, to Zukona for making this leak possible, and to OVH for helping with the upload!

Microsoft it yet to confirm that the leaked build is indeed RTM. However, WZOR, the Russian site from which the leak originated from, has been around for many years and it’s got a reputation for posting reliable information about leaked MS software in the past.

Now, we wouldn’t post a direct download link to this RTM since we’re not sure if that would be illegal or not (after all, this is still unreleased software). However, anyone wanting to download this release on a file sharing network should have enough information to do so in the above NFO itself :) If you are feeling adventurous, go ahead and check it out. If you want to download Service Pack 1 through official channels, it should hit the Microsoft Download Center in the coming weeks (or months, I’m not sure about the exact release date yet).

TorrentVault Reopens Invite Channel – Zero Day Tracker With 40000 Torrents

Looking to be a part of a great General/0Day tracker? You timing could not have been better. TorrentVault (TV), a Gazelle based private torrent tracker with tons of torrents and awesome pre times, has just re-opened its invites IRC channel after being closed for months. During the last couple of months, TV has grown from a lesser known private tracker into a well respected torrent site - it now features a torrent index with 40k+ torrents, great pre times, a unique bonus points system and the newly introduced TorrentVault Marketplace. In case you couldn’t get into this site through our special signup URL (which was posted a while back), you can now apply for an invite since the invites channel is open once again. Entry requirements for invites that are being handed out on IRC are not tough – even beginners to the BitTorrent scene stand a chance to gain entry into this tracker.

TorrentVault

TorrentVault is by no means a young BitTorrent tracker. The site, which started out on TBDEV source several years ago, is one of the veterans in the BT scene. Things have certainly taken an upward turn for TV since their migration to Gazelle codebase back in November 2009. Pre times and the number of daily torrents added to the site improved drastically – good news is that TV has managed to keep the momentum going even after a full year since the switch. As of today, there are over 43000 active torrents on this tracker – roughly 150-200 new torrents get uploaded every day.

TorrentVault is a General/0Day torrent tracker and majority of the indexed files are scene releases. Both non spam and spam releases including foreign + English content get uploaded here. All sorts of content ranging from music, magazines to movies is indexed – there is a particularly high number of TV episodes available as well. Some of the torrent categories and several zero day packs are visible in the screenshot below:

TorrentVault Index

TV has a unique bonus system based on ‘Gold’. Gold is awarded for seeding completed torrents. Every hour you are awarded a specific amount gold for each completed torrent you're seeding. The amount of gold you receive depends on the size of the torrent seeding. Additionally, you earn 2 gold for every forum post you make and 1 gold for every torrent you thank.Points earned in this manner can be exchanged for upload credit and other goodies in the TorrentVault Marketplace.

How to get invited to TorrentVault

As mentioned in the title of this post, TV has re-opened their IRC invites channel. According to site staff, around 2500-3000 invites will be given out in the first round. Entry requirements are not tough but everyone who is invited will be monitored for rule violations. Follow the step by step guide below to log into the TV invites channel. We recommend you use the mIRC client for this operation.

  1. Close your web browser. Install mIRC. mIRC can be downloaded free of charge from this location. Do not run it yet.
  2. TV IRC requires SSL connectivity so you’ll need to install SSL support for mIRC first. This is a one click process – simply download OpenSSL Setup from here and install it.
  3. Open your web browser, paste the following link in address bar and press enter irc://irc.torrentvault.org:+9022.
  4. This should open mIRC and log you into TorrentVault IRC server.
  5. Once logged in, type /ns REGISTER username email in the mIRC console to register your nickname on this server.
Example (assuming your username is filenet and password is mypassword)-
    /ns REGISTER filenet mypassword
  6. Type /join #tv-invites to join the invites channel. Follow instructions on channel topic and request your invite. Good Luck!

If you encounter any issues with above instructions, feel free to post them in comments section.

Special thanks to Ze0de (TV SysOp) and Chronic Tron for the heads up.

BTN Invites For Ex-ShareTheRemote Members Ahead Of Shutdown

By now, probably all of you have heard the news about imminent shutdown of ShareTheRemote, a gazelle based specialized TV torrent tracker. STR which launched to the public sometime around November 2009 will soon be closing down its operations permanently. Main reasons for the closure appears to be lack of funding, stagnating torrent uploads and member activity. While all loyal STR members will be saddened by this news, there is a silver lining in the dark cloud in the form of BTN. BTN, ones of the most successful TV trackers to hit the BitTorrent scene in recent months, is offering STR refuges a new home. An online form has now been made available through which ShareTheRemote members cam request for a free BTN invite. With BTN now being one of the best places on the internet to find and download TV shows, this is an excellent opportunity for STR members to make it their new home.

BTN STR

First, the reasons for STRS’s shutdown; following announcement is quoted from their homepage:

it's with great sadness that I write this post, however it's time to officially announce what many have been speculating about for quite some time: SharetheRemote has run its course and will be shutting down around the 16th of January.
While the immediate reason for this shutdown is a lack of funds (Note: Any donations made at this point will not be received until the 15th of February and will not help cover January's server bill), the prevailing reason is the stagnation that the site has faced. Both the torrent and user counts have floated around their current values and new features have came to a grinding halt ever since RC2 was prematurely released. The blame for this goes exclusively to the higher echelons of staff (developers+) - While the talent was certainly there, the activity simply was not. While it's a shame to see a site die due to a lack of organization, it's a harsh reality that we must face.
So what's to become of the torrents, users, and code? That's up to you guys. We currently aren't ruling out the idea of a merger, takeover by a new administration, or user relocation offer. For now, the site will be set to global freeleech until it goes down. Grab as much content as possible and make sure to share it with the world!

At last check (on 6/1/2010), STR tracked 5000 torrents and had an active user base of 7200+ members. You can find more information and screenshots of STR in our recent article located here.

A news item has also been posted on BTN homepage, announcing the partnership with STR:

As many of you know, SharetheRemote (StR) has recently announced it will be closing, leaving many of its members without a home
After long discussions, BTN has decided to accept Refugees from StR, and a system has been put in-place to securely validate these members prior to inviting them to BTN.
On behalf of BTN, I'd like to officially welcome our newest members from StR, and I hope you will all become part of our great community and  as we do
//BTN Staff

BTN is a hugely successful ratio free TV tracker with 18000+ members and 22000+ active torrents. The site is known for it’s many advanced features, seedbox hosted torrents, autouploader bots and fast pre times. You can read a full overview of BTN in our recent article located here.

How to apply for a BTN invite

First and foremost, this offer is only valid for Ex-STR members. You can apply for a BTN invite through the electronic form made available in following location:

Invite Application URL: https://broadcasthe.net/str_refuge.php

Provided that you were a good member on STR, you will receive a BTN invite to the E-mail you specify in the form. Good Luck!

Special thanks to AzzA for the heads up.

MP3Scene – MP3 Torrent Tracker Running On SoftMP3 Source

When it comes to scene music torrent trackers, SoftMP3 was nothing short of a legend. Back in its day, the site was hugely popular in the BitTorrent community and had pretty high demand from music fans across the world. However, SoftMP3 voluntarily shut down citing safety reasons after the Pirate bay court verdict back in 2009. Source code of the site was released to the public and naturally, a flurry of replacements and clones followed the demise of this once great tracker. Unfortunately none of the new alternatives were as successful as SoftMP3 and most had shut down for good by 2011. Today’s article is about MP3Scene – the newest MP3 music torrent tracker to be running on SoftMP3 source. Despite the bad luck surrounding torrent sites based on this script, MP3Scene is off to a fine start and is adding new torrents at a rapid pace.

MP3Scene

Within just a week into its public launch, MP3Scene’s statistics are looking pretty good. The site has so far managed to recruit over 1600 members through open registrations and this number is expected to increase as this tracker gains more exposure. Number of active torrents which was just around 100 a couple of days ago has increased rapidly to 2000, with over 1000 torrents being added in the last two days alone – if MP3Scene uploaders can keep this pace up in the long run, this tracker is definitely going to be a win. With the planned launch of autouploader bot (which according to the SysOP should arrive sometime this weekend), frequency and speed at which new torrents are added might even see further improvements. While the start has definitely been good for MP3Scene, let’s hope this tracker won’t suffer the same fate as previous SoftMP3 source based sites such as SceneSound or CareStreet.

As its name suggests, MP3Scene is a music torrent tracker specializing in scene released MP3 music albums. Indexed music is organized into 40+ different genres including Rock, Pop, Indie, Punk, Jazz and more. In addition to MP3 files which form the majority of  torrent index, this site tracks some MDVDR and Lossless music files as well. Just like SoftMP3, MP3Scene uses multiple torrent index pages as opposed to a single main index found on most other torrent sites. There are separate browse pages each for new releases, archived releases, requests and lossless music.

MP3Scene Index

Being built on the same source base, ex members of SoftMP3, SceneSound or CareStreet trackers should feel right at home here. While there are minor changes made to the layout, favorite SoftMP3 features such as the archive section, lossless music section, customizable start page, easy to read FAQ and rules presentation, toplists and requests have all been retained.

Registrations for MP3Scene are currently open. It’s not known whether open signups would be closed anytime soon. Either way this looks like a promising new entrant to the MP3 trackers scene so go ahead and check it out.

R5 Movie DVD Release Dates For 2011 - January, February, March & More

Here we go – our first R5 DVD release dates update for the year 2011. As most of you would already know, knowing the DVD release date of a movie in advance is useful if you are planning to actually buy the DVD off the shelves. But it comes in handy even if you are a pirate too. Although movies don’t have an official ‘leak online date’ set by publishers, you can pretty much guess when some movies will appear on file sharing networks if you know their DVD Region 5 (R5) release date. The R5 format was first introduced to minimize DVD movie piracy in areas such as Russia, Indian subcontinent and Africa. These DVDs are usually released ahead of other regions and are cheaper than their R1/R2 counterparts (in an attempt to convert would-be pirates). However, scene/P2P groups too use this to their advantage by making releases combining video ripped from R5 DVDs (which have near DVDRip quality) and English audio from CAM/TS sources. A R5 is the next best thing for BitTorrent downloaders unless a DVDRip, BRRip or a true HD copy of the movie is already available.

Listed below are R5 release dates for January – December 2011. Please keep in mind that these dates are subject to frequent change. Additionally, note that some of the movies mentioned below have R1 DVD and Blu Ray versions already released or leaked online.

UnionGang Tracker – Good Source For R5 DVDs, HDRips, BDRips & Other Torrents

After a series of posts about smaller, niche private torrent trackers, we return to large general torrent sites that everyone seems to be so fond of. The tracked being featured today is of Russian origin - Russians are no strangers to piracy and they certainly know their game when it comes to private torrent trackers (the world’s largest’ private tracker, RuTracker, has its roots in Russia). UnionGang is another BitTorrent tracker from this very same country – it’s not as large as RuTracker but it’s still a decently sized private tracker by any standards. UG is a general torrent site which indexes everything ranging from music, games to TV shows but it’s better known for its movie repository which includes releases of varying quality ranging from DVDRs to BRRips. UG is also one of the first sites to upload leaked regional content i.e. R5 DVD releases by groups such as ELEKTRIKA.

UnionGang Tracker

With an Alexa ranking just under 29000, UnionGang is one of the more frequently visited sites in the BitTorrent scene. It’s popular among the Russian BT community but it’s not a huge hit in the English speaking world. This makes no sense as there is a ton of English content indexed on UG, not just localized, regional releases. True, the interface is all in Russian but this is easily fixed with the help of Google Chrome’s inbuilt translation tool (see below for instructions) or using a web based translation service. At time of this post, UG tracked over 4500 active torrents.

UnionGang is a General/0Day torrent tracker – you should be able to find music releases, TV shows, movies games, cartoons and all other popular scene and P2P releases around here. As mentioned earlier, UG is usually among the first few torrent sites on the web to index uploads by Russian P2P groups such as ELEKTRIKA. Bulk of the indexed uploads are movies – they come in all sorts of popular formats such as HDRips, BRRips, BDRips and even Satellite television rips (SATRip). Torrents are well seeded and download speeds are great – popular releases usually have 200+ seeders uploading back. Screenshot below captures some of the torrents indexed on this tracker (note that release group name is absent on torrent title):

UnionGang Index

UnionGang interface is in Russian language and this might be a turn off for some English speaking users. However, you can easily translate the entire site to English using Google Chrome browser.

How to translate UnionGang to English with Google Chrome

  1. Download the latest version of Google Chrome browser from here.
  2. Visit TTG forum homepage through this link: http://www.uniongang.tv
  3. Once the page is done loading, Google Chrome will automatically display several translation options (the message will be displayed just beneath the address bar – you can’t miss it).
  4. Choose the auto detected settings (should be Russian to English) and hit translate. If you get the message  ‘Translation failed due to server error’ keep re-trying.
  5. Once translation of the first page is done, you can configure Google Chrome so that it automatically translates all UnionGang pages without prompting you. Select the ‘Options’ button (in the translation help popup) and select ‘Always translate Russian to English’ from the drop down menu.

Registrations for UnionGang are currently open. You can sign up for an account and browse the torrent index using links below:

CopyThatFloppy Confirmation E-Mail Issues Fixed, Signups Open

We usually do not feature the same torrent tracker twice on this blog within a week but consider this an exception. Some of you might remember our recent post about the promising new software only torrent tracker CopyThatFloppy. Although the article received many views, it was badly timed; there was an issue with CTF’s registration system and many folks who tried to sign up ended up not receiving the account confirmation E-mail. Thankfully, this issue is now fixed and anyone who ran into problems last time should now be able to create an account without any issues. On another note, CTF has ramped up the number of daily uploads during the last couple of days and the site now tracks over 150 applications within a week since launch.

A new post on site homepage acknowledges problems encountered in the past few days:

First of all I would like to apologize for all the site problems that we have been experiencing. Testing the site revealed none of these issues. I am currently working on getting everything fixed. Again, I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
The confirmation email problem should have been fixed. If you know people or hear of those that haven't received an email, please ask them to join the #help chan in our irc. If you received an email, but were manually registered, just ignore it.
IRC should now be working too. Tux has been restarted.
Thanks for being patient with all the bugs!
-linus

Some accounts were manually confirmed by staff – these users should not have any problems logging in. Some others may have received the confirmation E-mail at a later stage so double check your E-mail account before attempting to re-register. For any further assistance, log onto the CTF IRC Help channel which is located at irc://irc.copythatfloppy.org:6667/help

In case you are reading about CTF for the first time, it’s a specialized private tracker for Windows, Linux, Mac OS, iPhone OS and Android software. For a detailed overview and screenshots of this tracker please refer to our previous review located here.

MagicProp – A New Magic Torrent Tracker Open For Signup

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – specialized magic torrent trackers are some of the hardest private trackers to get into. MagicTorrents, the last such tracker to be featured on this blog, actually required users to have a professional knowledge of magic. This is of course a fair practice if you see it from tracker staffs’ perceptive - most of these sites are built with the focus of sharing material between magicians so a member without any knowledge on the field would not do much good to the community. But if you are an amateur at magic or if you are a student planning to learn this wonderful art, here’s a magic tracker that currently has open signups. MagicProp is the newest magic torrent site on the block and open registrations would continue until the user count reaches 1000.

MagicProp Logo

MagicProp is branded as a completely new tracker but it seems to be connected to AOMK (AOM Killer – another magic tracker) in some way. Numerous news posts and torrent comments found on MagicProp have references to AOMK and even the forum avatar image of MagicProp owner has the text “AOMK Owner”. This weird connection aside, MP appears to be a decent magic tracker which is around 1 month old. At time of this posting, there were around 650 active torrents indexed on MP and it had a registered user base of 300 members.

Most of the torrents indexed on MagicProp can be downloaded by anyone including new members. However, there is a trader/VIP section which does have some restrictions – files listed under this section can only be downloaded if you upload something to MagicProp first (or if you are a VIP). As said earlier, this is a specialized magic tracker – you can find video, audio and ebooks related to a wide array of magic related subjects such as Balloon, Face Painting, Fire Eating, Hypnosis, Juggling, Packet Tricks, Pick Pocketing, Prosthetics , Scripts N Patter and many more.

MagicProp Index

As mentioned earlier, MagicProp is currently open for signup. We are told that open registrations would continue until the user limit hits 1000 members – this leaves around 700 more free spots up for the taking.

Site Name: MagicProp (http://magicprop.com)

Signup URL: http://magicprop.com/signup.php (The ‘Invite Code’ field is optional. You can leave it blank and continue the signup)

ScienceHD Domain Issues – Here Are Some Workarounds

Earlier today, frequent visitors to the specialized documentary, science fiction and infotainment torrent tracker ScienceHD were greeted with the dreaded ‘Domain Expired’ error message. If you were feeling anxious that SHD was taken down by the powers that be, you can relax. SciHD’s domain issues are only temporarily and there are already several alternative ways to access the site just fine. As we highlighted in a previous post, here’s a situation when following a torrent tracker on Twitter really paid off. SHD’s Twitter account alerted its followers about the downtime and provided workarounds to access the site immediately after domain expiry issues surfaced. Currently, there are two ways to access the site – one is by using HTTPS direct-IP method and the other is by editing the hosts file to manually map the URL to ScienceHD’s IP address .SHD’s core operations including downloading/uploading torrents and even online invite applications are currently fully functional despite domain issues.

If you are still having issues accessing ScienceHD via its usual URL, you may gain entry into the site by using any one of the methods below:

Although the blackout came as quite a surprise to some members of SHD, there was actually a planned downtime scheduled for 30-31 December. Unfortunately, it appears that the downtime got extended unexpectedly – a news post on homepage reads:

Downtime Dec. 30 - Dec. 31
Just a heads-up that we will have some downtime on December 30th, which could possibly go over onto the 31st. Never fear, though! We'll be back
EDIT: It should be at most one day, not two. Evidently December has 31 days in it, not 30. Who knew!
Update
So, obviously a bit more troubles going on than we originally planned for. We should have them solved soon, but in the mean time:
If you're using the direct-ip method to view the site (https://174.137.63.122/)), please try using this method: http://scihd.randomserver.net/
And tell your friends so they don't think we just disappeared, of course ;)

Note that SHD is only experiencing domain issues. All major site operations including torrent downloads continue to function normally.

If this is the first time you are hearing about this tracker, ScienceHD is a private torrent site specializing in science fiction TV shows, premium documentaries and other related infotainment content. Registrations are currently closed but you can get in if you successfully get through the online invite application. A detailed overview of the online invite application is located here while a full tracker review with screenshots can be found here.

CopyThatFloppy – Software Only Torrent Tracker For Windows, Linux & Mac Apps

It’s a brand new year and here’s news of a brand new private tracker. It’s not everyday you see the launch of a BitTorrent site specializing in software. CopyThatFloppy (CTF) joins the limited number of appz trackers out there alongside the likes of Appz Bitshock and AppzUniverse. After being in beta for about a month, CTF launched to the public a couple of days ago on 31 December 2010. Based on the Gazelle codebase, this is probably the only new software tracker to hit the BitTorrent scene in 2010. CTF tracks all sorts of applications for Windows, Linux, Apple Mac and other operating systems including mobile platforms such as iOS and Android. Don’t expect to find movies or games here as this tracker is all about software and software only. If you are interested in becoming a member, registrations are currently open.

Copy That Floppy

A brief introduction of CTF (originally posted on site homepage), is quoted below:

Welcome to CopyThatFloppy!
We are a software only tracker, plain and simple. With a goal to be organized and build up a community to trade and discuss software. We will not be having video games on here. As the login screen said, "This is an archive, a tribute, to those great applications that many developers have spent countless hours coding."
A quick look around the site will show you we are rather empty right now. There is where you come in. We figured why should we take the easy upload when you can, so make sure to get the software you have lying around up here!
Feel you have knowledge to share? Have a question about something? Check out the Tutorials section! There you can request a tutorial be written, post one, even collect upload for answering people's questions.
Everybody, new and old to trackers, should read the rules and make sure you follow them. We would like to do this site right and not get off to any bad habits.
So welcome, make a few posts on the forums, join the irc, and enjoy the site.
-CTF SysOps (linus & sp)

As of right now, there isn’t a lot of content indexed on CTF. At the time of posting there were only around 25 torrents uploaded to the tracker. However, keep in mind that this site is only 2 days old. Since there are a lot of 0Day Appz releases pre’d by scene groups on a daily basis, CTF most likely will not face a shortage of torrents if they manage to index even half of these releases.

Note that the content on CopyThatFloppy is not limited to Windows software. There are a number of Mac and Linux applications uploaded and the predefined categories list suggests that tracker staff have plans to upload iOS and Android applications as well. All torrents are categorized and tagged for easy searching. Some of the available apps are free software and some are pirated material that come with key generators and cracks. In addition to torrents, there is a separate section for text based tutorials and tech guides.

Registrations for CTF are currently open. There are around 2500 free slots up for the taking so get in while you can.

Awesome-HD Registrations Open For New Year 2011

This is our first post for the year 2011 and it’s good news for fans of high definition video content. Awesome-HD (AHD), a specialized HD tracker based on Gazelle RC2 codebase, has opened registrations for a limited time in celebration of the new year. Despite the loss of one of its main internal encoders (EuReKa) last year, this tracker managed not only to survive through the turbulent times but staff were also able to add many new features and enhancements as planned. AHD v4 now comes with a streamlined user interface, a new bonus system, subtitle and audio track integration for movies, requests, polls, collages and numerous other bug fixes. For those unfamiliar with the content on this tracker, it indexes HD movies, TV shows and documentaries including a lot of internal encodes unique to the site.

Awesome HD Logo

Although not as large as leading HD trackers such as HDBits.Org and Bit-HDTV, Awesome-HD has a strong user base of ~6000 members. As of 15/7/2010 AHD tracked 2700 active torrents which included 1500+ HD movies. These torrents include both scene and non scene releases. In fact, majority of the torrents indexed at AHD are P2P uploads ( a common characteristic of most specialized HD trackers). Video and audio content uploaded to AHD usually meet the following standards:

  • Movies - 720p/1080p x264 encodes + DTS/AC-3 + English subtitles in a Matroska container
  • TV –  Only Blu-Ray / HD DVD sources. Only complete seasons.
  • HD-Audio - DTS-HD, TrueHD, LPCM, FLAC

In addition, material with highest video quality are are tagged as AHD Gold encodes. AHD Gold encodes are usually 720p/1080p video that meet a rigorous set of encoding standards (full details can be found on upload rules page).

AHD Index

Apart from the usual set of releases you can find on almost any other HD tracker, AHD has some internal encodes released by groups such as FoRM, HiFi, FTW-HD, D-ZON3. These groups actively upload on AHD and this is a good place as any to find their latest encodes.

Registrations for AHD are currently open. The current max user limit of the site is set to 8000 and provided that registrations remain open until this limit is reached, there are around 2000 free slots available for the taking.
