This should be good news for engineering students among us. Stanford University’s School of Engineering is offering freely downloadable engineering courses via the web. As you might already know, Stanford is one of the most reputed universities in the world. This should be a good opportunity for engineering students across the world gain access to high quality study material from Stanford.
This programme is called ‘Stanford Engineering Everywhere’ and here is what it says on the home page:
For the first time in its history, Stanford is offering some of its most popular engineering classes free of charge to students and educators around the world. Stanford Engineering Everywhere (SEE) expands the Stanford experience to students and educators online. A computer and an Internet connection are all you need. View lecture videos, access reading lists and other course handouts, take quizzes and tests, and communicate with other SEE students, all at your convenience.
Currently there are 10 courses online under the fields of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Linear Systems and Optimization. What’s cool about this services is that even multimedia content such as full lecture videos are available in many different forms (Youtube, Torrents (you’ll need Vuze to download these torrents as they use the Vuze HD network), WMV, MP4 etc :
